                            <p>Purpose: Mental Disorders have become one of the mostconcerning issues of today. Drug therapies, one of treatment methods conductedon mental disorders contribute to weight gain and as a result of this thesetype of treatments may expose these individuals to obesity. However, eitherphysically or mentally, these individuals don’t seem to participatesufficiently in physical activity. In this review, exercise participations ofobese individuals having mental disorders will be assessed in consideration ofliterature data, and causes posing an obstacle for physical activityparticipation, factors motivating these individuals for physical activity werediscussed.Method: Literature data were obtained from the library database ofÇanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Trakya University and Google Scholar using‘’Obesity and Mental Disorders’’, Exercise participation and Mental Disorders’’and ‘’Obesity and Exercise Participation’’ keywords.Results: As a result of this review, obese individuals withmental disorders were observed to refrain from physical activity because ofstigmatization and safety problems during physical activity.Conclusion: it can be suggested that planning intervention programs for these individualsby sports psychologists, psychiatrists and sports experts which may fulfillsocial, mental and physical needs, may have benefits on both physical andmental improvements and reintegrate them into society.</p></trans-abstract>
                                                                                                                                    <abstract><p>Amaç: Mental rahatsızlıklar çağımızın en büyük sağlık sorunlarından birtanesi haline gelmiştir. Mental rahatsızlıklar üzerinde uygulanmakta olantedavi yöntemlerinden birisi olan ilaç tedavileri mental hastalıklara sahipbireylerin kilo almalarına sebep olmakta ve bunun sonucu olarak bu bireyleriobeziteye maruz bırakmaktadır. Bununla birlikte, gerek psikolojik anlamda gerekbedensel olarak bu bireylerin egzersize katılım oranları bir hayli az olduğugözlemlenmektedir. Bu derleme çalışmasında; mental rahatsızlıklara sahipobezite ile mücadele eden bireylerin egzersize katılım durumları yapılanliteratür taramasından elde edilen veriler ışığında değerlendirilerek, bubireylerin egzersize katılmalarına engel olan ve egzersiz katılımmotivasyonlarına etki eden unsurlar incelenmiştir.Yöntem: Çalışmaya ait literatür verileri, Çanakkale OnsekizMart Üniversitesi ve Trakya Üniversitesi kütüphane veri tabanları ve GoogleScholar arama motorlarında; “Obesity and Mental Disorders’’, “ExerciseParticipation and Mental Disorders’’ ve “Obesity and Exercise Participationanahtar kelimeleri aratılarak gerçekleştirilmiştir.Bulgular: Çalışmanın sonucunda mevcut literatür verilerindenyola çıkarak mental rahatsızlıklara sahip obez bireylerin özellikle fizikselaktivite esnasındaki güvenlik problemlerinden ve toplumda olumsuz anlamdadamgalanmaktan çekinmeleri bu bireylerin fiziksel aktiviteye katılımmotivasyonunu olumsuz etkilediği anlaşılmaktadır. Sonuç: bu bireyler için spor psikologları veya imkanlardahilinde psikolog, psikiyatrist ve spor uzmanları eşliğinde oluşturulacak,sosyal, ruhsal ve fiziksel ihtiyaçlarına cevap verebilecek, egzersize katılımıteşvik edici müdahale ve terapi programlarının oluşturulması, bu bireylerin hemsosyal hayata kazandırılması, hem de fiziksel, ruhsal açıdan iyileşmegöstermesi açısından faydalı olabileceği ileri sürülebilir.</p></abstract>
