Menteşe Islands which is located in southwest cost off Turkey in the Aegean Sea,
has great importance as outpost in defending Anatolia against threats that may come from
the west and the south. Throughout the history sovereignty of these islands has always been
having a strategic priority for the security of Anatolia. These islands, islets and rocks, which
have sprinkled in a manner very close case each spread out in front of the main land of Turkey,
after spending 400 years of Turkish domination, occupied by the Italians and then after the
Second World War have passed into the hands of Greece. In this context, the aforementioned
islands situation in the Second World War in the output process from Turkish domination is
emerging as an important milestone.
