The Mediating Role of Self-Esteem in the Relationship Between Self-Efficacy and SelfHandicapping

Abstract
The aim of this study is to reveal the role of self-esteem in the relationship between self-efficacy and self-handicapping tendency. For this purpose, a questionnaire consisting of self-esteem scale, self-handicapping scale
and self-efficacy scale and demographic questions were applied to 283 participants. The analysis results revealed a
significant relationship between self-efficacy, self-esteem and self-handicapping. In addition to this, it has been
found that self-esteem has a full mediation effect in the relationship between self-efficacy and self-handicapping.

Abstract
Bu araştırmanın amacı, öz yeterlilik ile kendini sabotaj eğilimi arasındaki ilişkide benlik saygısının rolünü ortaya koymaktır. Bu amaçla 283 katılımcıya, benlik saygısı ölçeği, kendini sabotaj ölçeği ve öz yeterlilik ölçeği ile demografik sorulardan oluşan bir anket formu uygulanmıştır. Analiz sonuçları öz yeterlilik, benlik saygısı ve kendini sabotaj arasında anlamlı ilişkiler olduğunu ortaya koymaktadır. Bununla birlikte, öz yeterlilik ile kendini sabotaj arasındaki ilişkide benlik saygısının tam aracılık etkisi olduğu tespit edilmiştir.
