Abstract
Aim: The study aims to determine the effects of planned education applied to caregivers of cancer patients on caregiver burdens.
Methods: This study was conducted as a quasi-experimental study and included 50 individuals who took the responsibility to caregiver a cancer patient between May-September 2005. Data were acquired through “Caregiver Introductory Form” and “Stress Scale of Caregivers”, which measures the subjective caregiver burdens of caregivers. Planned education was applied to the caregivers of the patients and a training manual including the content of education was used. There face-to-face educations were given to caregivers accepting to participate in the study. Data were evaluated using proportional, chi-square, Wilcoxon matching statistical analysis tests.
Results: As a result of planned education applied to caregivers, caregiver burden score averages were determined as 6.54 points (SD:1.25) in the first control, 4.44 points (SD:1.01) in the second control and 3.64 (SD:0.98) in the third control. Regularly conducted planned education was determined to significantly reduce caregiver burdens perceived by caregivers (p< 0.05).
Conclusion: Planned education applied to caregivers of cancer patients was determined to reduce caregiver burdens perceived by caregivers.
Abstract
Amaç: Kanserli hastaya bakım veren bireylere verilen planlı eğitimin bakım yükü üzerine olan etkisini belirlemektir.
Yöntem: Yarı deneysel olarak yapılan bu çalışmaya Mayıs - Eylül 2005 tarihleri arasında kanser hastasının bakım sorumluluğunu alan 50 birey alınmıştır. Araştırma verilerinin toplanmasında “Bakım Veren Tanıtım Formu”, bakım verenin subjektif bakım yükünü ölçen “Bakım Verenin Stres Ölçeği” kullanılmıştır. Hastaların bakım vericilerine planlı eğitim uygulanmış ve eğitim içeriğini içeren bir eğitim kitapçığı kullanılmıştır. Araştırmaya katılmayı kabul eden bakım verenlere üç kez yüz yüze eğitim verilmiştir. Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde yüzdelik, ki kare, Wilcoxon eşleştirme istatistiksel analiz testleri kullanılmıştır.
Bulgular: Bakım verenlere uygulanan planlı eğitimin sonucunda bakım yükü puan ortalamalarının; birinci kontrolde 6.54 puan (SD:1.25), ikinci kontrolde 4.44 puan (SD: 1.01) ve üçüncü kontrolde ise 3.64 puan (SD: 0.98) olduğu saptanmıştır. Düzenli olarak yapılan planlı eğitimin bakım verenlerin algıladıkları bakım yükünün, anlamlı yönde azalmasına neden olduğu belirlenmiştir (p< 0.05).
Sonuç: Kanser hastasına bakım verenlere uygulanan planlı eğitimlerin bakım verenin algıladığı bakım yükünü azalttığı saptanmıştır.
