Until today, Ancient Syrian Community has provided religious education for the children of its members in the churches and monasteries that are built in a campus style. However, due to the intense migration that was experienced during the Republican era, the Assyrian population almost disappeared from their traditional living quarters, something which negatively influenced the religious institutions and educational activities. Today, in Madrassah that are located in several church monasteries in Mardin, Midyat and Istanbul education programs on prayers, religious hymns, the Bible and Ancient Syrian history, religion and culture are carried out. Students, who are generally at the secondary and high school levels, reside in churches and monasteries in Mardin and Midyat, where they also continue their formal education. Children from the Jakobiten community in Midyat also receive their religious education in these churches and monasteries while they maintain living in their homes. The churches in Istanbul provide education programs once a week on Saturdays. Education is given by teachers, who are hired by the church adminbtration
