PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION LAW (KVKK) DISCLOSURE STATEMENT

Pursuant to the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 ("KVKK"), your personal data may be processed by SAMBEE Publishing, Information Technologies, Trade and Industry Joint Stock Company, acting as the Data Controller, within the scope described below.

Personal Data Processed

Within the scope of DergiPark and the Journal's publishing activities, the following personal data may be processed:

  • Full name
  • Institutional affiliation and position
  • ORCID ID
  • E-mail address
  • Telephone number
  • Correspondence address
  • Tax identification number (if applicable)
  • Bank account information (IBAN)
  • Billing and invoicing information
  • Signature information
  • Records related to manuscript submission, evaluation, and publication processes

Purposes of Processing Personal Data

Your personal data are processed for the following purposes:

  • Managing manuscript submission and evaluation processes;
  • Conducting peer-review and editorial procedures;
  • Verifying author identity and authorship information;
  • Preparing copyright transfer and publication agreements;
  • Performing accounting and financial transactions;
  • Issuing invoices and maintaining financial records;
  • Fulfilling legal and administrative obligations;
  • Providing information to authorized public authorities and institutions when required by law;
  • Conducting and maintaining academic publishing activities.

Methods and Legal Grounds for Collecting Personal Data

Your personal data may be collected through:

  • The DergiPark system;
  • Electronic mail communications;
  • Copyright and publication agreements;
  • Application forms;
  • Payment receipts and related financial documents;
  • Written and electronic submissions and correspondence.

Your personal data are processed based on the legal grounds set forth in Articles 5 and 6 of the Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698, including:

  • Explicitly stipulated by law;
  • Necessity for the establishment or performance of a contract;
  • Fulfillment of the legal obligations of the Data Controller;
  • Necessity for the establishment, exercise, or protection of a legal right;
  • Legitimate interests of the Data Controller, provided that such processing does not violate the fundamental rights and freedoms of the data subject.

Transfer of Personal Data

Your personal data may be transferred, to the extent permitted by applicable legislation, to:

  • Service providers operating the DergiPark infrastructure;
  • Certified public accountants, financial consultants, and accounting service providers;
  • Banks and payment service providers;
  • Authorized public institutions and governmental authorities;
  • Courts and enforcement offices;
  • Legally authorized supervisory and regulatory authorities.

Data Retention Period

Personal data shall be retained for the periods prescribed by applicable legislation and for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which they are processed. Upon expiration of the relevant retention periods, personal data shall be deleted, destroyed, or anonymized in accordance with applicable legal requirements.

Rights of Data Subjects

Pursuant to Article 11 of the Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698, data subjects have the right to:

  • Learn whether their personal data are being processed;
  • Request information regarding such processing;
  • Learn the purpose of processing and whether personal data are used in accordance with that purpose;
  • Learn the third parties to whom personal data are transferred;
  • Request correction of incomplete or inaccurate personal data;
  • Request deletion or destruction of personal data under the conditions prescribed by law;
  • Request notification of correction, deletion, or destruction to third parties to whom personal data have been transferred;
  • Object to adverse consequences resulting from the exclusive analysis of processed data through automated systems;
  • Request compensation for damages arising from unlawful processing of personal data.
