Mimarlık, edebiyat ve sinema alanlarında ayrı ayrı birçok çalışma yapılmış olsa da üç disiplinin beraber ele alındığı çalışma sayısı oldukça azdır. Kitap uyarlaması filmlerin okur ve izleyici üzerinde aşamalı bir etki yarattığı düşünüldüğünde bu kavramın kendiliğinden bir çalışma alanı yarattığı görülmüştür. Bu çalışmada mimarlık, edebiyat ve sinemanın ortak etkileşim alanında bulunan mekân kavramı kitap uyarlaması filmler üzerinden incelenmiştir. Eserler seçilirken amaçlı örneklem yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Seçilen eserler dram türündeki Muhteşem Gatsby, gerilim türündeki Da Vinci Şifresi, fantastik türdeki Harry Potter Melez Prens ve bilim kurgu türündeki Dune: Çöl Gezegeni’dir. Kitaplarda detaylı tasvirleri olan, doğal, yapay ve karma mekanlar aranmıştır. Yazarın tasvirde kullandığı ışık, renk, biçim, doku ögeleri tespit edilip yönetmenin bu ögeleri filme nasıl aktardığı karşılaştırmalı analiz yöntemiyle belirlenip tablolaştırılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler film türlerine, mekân türlerine ve öge kullanımına göre analiz edilip grafik halinde sunulmuştur. İncelenen mekanlar tasar ögelerinin kullanımı üzerinden değerlendirildiğinde, yazar ve yönetmenin mekân anlatımında en çok paralellik gösterdiği eserin Da Vinci Şifresi olduğu görülmüştür.
Although many studies have been conducted separately on architecture, literature and cinema there are very few studies in which the three disciplines are discussed together. Considering that book adaptation movies have a progressive effect on readers and viewers, it has been seen that this concept has spontaneously created a field of study. In this study, the concept of space, which is in the common interaction area of architecture, literature and cinema, is analyzed through book adaptation movies. The works were selected by purposive sampling method. The selected works are The Great Gatsby in the drama genre, The Da Vinci Code in the thriller genre, Harry Potter Half-Blood Prince in the fantasy genre and Dune: Part One in the genre of science fiction. The books were searched for natural, artificial and mixed locations with detailed descriptions. The elements of light, color, form and texture used by the author in the description were identified and how the director transferred these elements to the movie was determined and tabulated by comparative analysis method.The data obtained were analyzed separately according to movie genres, location types and the use of elements and presented graphically. When the analyzed spaces were evaluated in terms of the use of elements, it was seen that "The Da Vinci Code" was the work in which the author and director showed the most parallelism in the narration of space.
