This study examines the endowment process of a manuscript copy of Irshād al-ʿaql al-salīm, a tafsīr (Qurʾānic commentary) authored by Ebussuʿūd Efendi. Originally transcribed as a single-volume manuscript, the copy is divided into four volumes in the 17th century and endowed by a philanthropist named Āʾişa Khāṭūn. On the first page of each volume, a waqfiyya (endowment deed) record, finalized through the court, is inscribed. This article analyzes the content reflected in that waqfiyya record and examines other records found in the endowed manuscript, aiming to demonstrate the multifaceted and procedural nature of the endowment process in the Ottoman context. Furthermore, the study emphasizes the importance of evaluating legal-historical documents within the conceptual and intellectual framework of the period in which they were produced. In this context, it aims to show that historical documents reflect not only recorded events but also the social and cultural codes of their time and how historical data can be reinterpreted from multiple perspectives.
Bu yazıda, Ebüssuûd Efendi’nin İrşâdü’l-akli’s-selîm adlı tefsirinin bir nüshasının vakfedilme süreci ele alınmaktadır. Normalde tek cilt hâlinde istinsah edilmiş olan bu nüsha, XVII. yüzyılda Âişe Hatun isimli bir hayırsever tarafından dört cilde ayrılarak vakfedilmiş; her bir cildin ilk sayfasına mahkeme aracılığıyla kesinleştirilen vakfiye kaydı not düşülmüştür. Çalışmada, bu mahkeme kararında yer alan içerik incelenmekte, ayrıca vakfa konu olan nüshada bulunan diğer bazı kayıtlar da tahlil edilerek, vakıf sürecinin nasıl çok yönlü ve aşamalı bir biçimde işlediği gösterilmeye çalışılmaktadır. Bununla birlikte, hukuki nitelikteki tarihsel belgelerin, oluşturuldukları dönemin zihniyet ve tasavvur dünyası içinde değerlendirilmesinin ne denli önemli olduğu da bu örnek üzerinden vurgulanmaktadır. Bu bağlamda, tarihsel belgelerin yalnızca belgelenmiş olayları değil, aynı zamanda dönemin toplumsal ve kültürel kodlarını da yansıttığının, bu sayede de tarihsel verilerin farklı açılardan nasıl yeniden yorumlanabileceğinin ortaya konulması hedeflemektedir.
