Abstract
Islamophobic
events lead to those stereotypes
occured within the society
through seperation of “We” and “They”, the weakening of social relations and
the increase of mutual distance. The Western world has the idea that Muslim
women cannot express themselves, are crushed, oppressed so must be liberated.
Unfortunately, hijab has become the reason for the increasing violence against
Muslim women in the regions where Islamophobia is concentrated. In this study,
the problems of Muslims, especially Muslim women, in the context of
Islamophobia will be evaluated. In the study, the conceptual and historical
origins of Islamophobia will be emphasized. Our aim in this study is to find
answers to the questions such as what is the image of Islam and Muslim women
according to the West, what has been done in the fight against Islamophobia and
what are the responsibilities of the people, and to try to offer suggestions
about the subject.
