A NEW PLANT GROWTH REGULATOR: 1-METHYLCYCLOPROPENE

Year 2006, Volume: 23 Issue: 1, 9 - 19, 01.03.2006

Abstract

1-Methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) is a new postharvest chemical application that attracting the attention of both scientists who studying upon agriculture and biology and people supported by agricultural industry world-wide. The scientific researches on this compound has shown it is a powerful inhibitor of ethylene action and capable of maintaining postharvest quality in many fresh horticultural products. According to numerous researchers, 1-MCP is interpreted that a universal ‘magic bullet’ that will cure many postharvest problems. 1-MCP is a tool that can help scientists make major advances in understanding the role of ethylene in plants. This plan growth regulator prevents ethylene effects in a broad range of fruits, vegetables and floriculture crops. Depending on the species being treated, 1-MCP may have a variety of effects on respiration, ethylene production, volatile production, chlorophyll degradation and other color changes, protein and membrane changes, softening, disorders and diseases, acidity and sugars.

YENİ BİR BİTKİ BÜYÜME DÜZENLEYİCİSİ: 1-METHYLCYCLOPROPENE (1-MCP)

Year 2006, Volume: 23 Issue: 1, 9 - 19, 01.03.2006
