Abstract

Bu araştırma orta ve orta-üst sosyo-ekonomik düzey helikopter ebeveynlerin çocuklarına yönelik davranış ve bu ebeveynlerin davranışlarının yetiştirdikleri çocukların, yetişkinlik yaşamındaki mutluluk hallerini araştırmayı amaçlamaktadır. Araştırmada ebeveyn davranış ve tutumları, aile, iş, sosyal yaşamdaki aidiyet problemleri bağlamında incelemeler yapılmıştır. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemi ve olgu-bilim deseni kullanılmıştır. 12 katılımcı ile derinlemesine mülakat yapılmıştır ve ebeveynlerinin davranış ve tutumları ve kendi yaşamları konusundaki düşüncelerini öğrenmek üzere sorular sorulmuştur. Görüşme analizleri sonucunda helikopter ebeveyn sahibi Y kuşağının kendini başarılı bulmadığı, aidiyet problemleri yaşadığı, sorumluluk alma ve yaşam becerisi geliştirmede sıkıntıları olduğu, kendini gerçekleştirme yönünde hedefler koyamadığı, iş yaşamından ve genel anlamıyla yaşamlarından tatmin olmadığı bulunmuştur.

Y GENERATION RAISED BY HELICOPTER PARENTS: SENSE OF BELONGING, LIFE SKILLS, SELF-CONFIDENCE

Abstract

This research aims to uncover the behaviors of helicopter parents from middle and upper-middle class, the difference of these behaviors from other types of parents, and the results of these behaviors in the context of happiness and life satisfaction of their children on their adult life. Analysis has been performed on parenting attitudes and its relations with the identification problems in family life, work life and social life. Qualitative research method and phenomenology design was applied in this research. 12 participants were interviewed in dept. and questions were asked in order to reveal the attitudes of their parents and their own lives. As the result of the analysis it was found that the Y generation individuals with helicopter parents do not consider themselves successful, they experience problems of belonging, they have problems in taking responsibility and developing life skills, they cannot develop goals towards self-actualization and they do not feel satisfied with their work life and life in the general sense.
