Abstract

İntestinal olgularda en sık saptanan tip C.jejuni subsp. jejuni olmakla birlikte “Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)” a bildirilen bakteriyemi olgularının hemen tamamında etken C.fetus subsp. fetus\'tur.

Abstract

Campylobacter species are Gram-negative, oxidase-positive, non-spore forming and encapsulated bacteria. Among these, most infectious agents seen in human and animal species are Campylobacter jejuni, Campylobacter fetus and Campylobacter coli. They can cause intestinal and extra-intestinal diseases in humans. Although C.jejuni subsp. jejuni is the most frequently identified agent in intestinal cases, C.fetus subsp. fetus is the most frequently identified agent in almost all bacteremia cases that reported to CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).Bacteremia can be seen less than 1 % of patients infected with C.jejuni. Incidence of bacteremia is higher among patients with chronic liver diseases, hepatobiliary or gastrointestinal cancers and HIV-infected patients. In this case report, we present a previously diagnosed 47-years-old liver cirrhosis patient whom C.jejuni subsp. jejuni isolated from blood culture.
