Şeyh Seyyid Ali Semerkandî’nin övgüsü ile başlayıp toplamda 11 tematik bölümden oluşan Vasıfname, tasavvufi muhtevası ve dilsel incelikleriyle üzerinde dikkatle durulması gereken bir metin olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Şiirlerinden adının Mahmûd ve mahlasının Şeyhî olduğunu tespit ettiğimiz şair, eserlerini tasavvufi seyr ü sülûk mertebelerine uygun sistematik bir düzende kaleme almıştır. Bu sistematik yapı, şairin sadece teorik tasavvuf bilgisine sahip değil, aynı zamanda bir tarikat disiplini içerisinde derinleşmiş ve muhtemelen irşat makamına ulaşmış bir kişi olduğunu düşündürmektedir. Şiirlerde hâkim olan nasihat üslubu ve terminolojik zenginlik de bu kanaati destekler niteliktedir. Dil özellikleri incelendiğinde ise metnin Eski Anadolu Türkçesi’nden Osmanlı Türkçesi’ne geçiş evresine ait olduğu anlaşılmaktadır. Eser, hacimce mütevazı olmasına rağmen söz konusu geçiş döneminin dil özelliklerini barındırması açısından kayda değerdir.Üzerinde çalıştığımız bu manzume ile ilgili inceleme, şiirin metnini oluşturmak üzere çeviri yazı çalışması, dil incelemesi, metnin kısmi muhteva analizi ve şairin kimliği üzerine kurgulanmıştır. Metin üzerinde yapılan çalışmalar “Analiz Yöntemi” başlığı altında numaralandırılan ana ve alt başlıklarla okuyucunun dikkatine sunulmuştur. Çalışmamızı zenginleştiren bir diğer husus ise Vasıfname’nin tarihi ile ilişkilendirdiğimiz bir kayıt olmuştur. Sadrazam Fazıl Mustafa Paşa’nın vefatı üzerine düşülmüş târîh-i vefât kaydı, şiirlerin yazıldığı vakte ilişkin bir tarihi arka plan oluşturması ve döneminin önemli bir tarihî şahsiyetine işaret etmesi bakımından önemlidir.
This vasıfname, which begins with the praise of Shaykh Sayyid ʿAlī al-Samarqandī and consists of 11 thematic sections in total, presents itself as a poem that requires careful attention due to its Sufi content and linguistic subtleties. The poet Mahmud (pen name Şeyhî) systematically organized his work according to the stages of the Sufi path (seyr ü sülûk). This structure, along with its didactic tone and specialized terminology, suggests he was an experienced spiritual guide (murshid), not merely a theoretician. Linguistically, the text dates from the transition between Old Anatolian Turkish and Ottoman Turkish. Despite its modest volume, it remains a noteworthy witness to this linguistic period.The analysis of this poem, which we refer to as a vasıfname, is structured upon a transliteration study to establish the text of the poem, a linguistic analysis of the verses, and a partial analysis of the text's content. The work conducted on the text is presented to the reader under the heading "Research Methodology" with numbered main and subheadings.Another element that enriches our study is a record we have associated with the history of our poem: the death date record composed upon the death of Grand Vizier Fazıl Mustafa Pasha. This record provides a historical background for the time the poems were written and is significant as it points to an important historical figure of the period.
