Sağlık Alanında Okuyan Üniversite Öğrencilerinde Sağlık Okuryazarlığı Düzeylerinin Covid-19 Korkusu Üzerine Etkisi*

Abstract

Bu çalışma, sağlık alanında okuyan üniversite öğrencilerinde Sağlık Okuryazarlığı düzeylerinin, Covid-19 korkusu üzerine etkisini belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırma, “tanımlayıcı ve ilişki arayıcı” niteliktedir. Araştırma Şubat 2021-Mart 2021 tarihleri arasında Van Yüzüncü Yıl Üniversitesi Van Sağlık Hizmetleri Meslek Yüksek Okulunda okuyan 541 ön lisans öğrencisi ile yapılmıştır. Verilerin toplanmasında “Kişisel Bilgi Formu”, “Türkiye Sağlık Okuryazarlığı Ölçeği-32 ve “Covid-19 Korkusu Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Çalışmada katılımcıların TSOY-32 ölçeğinden aldığı toplam puan ortalaması 31.81±9.40, koronavirüs korkusu ölçeğinden aldığı toplam puan ortalaması 16.14±7.18 bulunmuştur. Öğrencilerin %20.9’unun SOY düzeyi yetersiz, %36.6’sının sınırlı-sorunlu, %27.4’ünün yeterli ve %15.2’sinin mükemmel düzeyde SOY sahip olduğu belirlenmiştir. Katılımcıların sağlık okuryazarlığı düzeyleri ile koronavirüs korku puanları arasında negatif yönde orta seviyede bir ilişki olduğu ortaya çıkmış, sağlık okuryazarlığı düzeyleri yükseldikçe koronavirüs korku puanında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir azalma olduğu saptanmıştır (p<0.001). Sağlık okuryazarlığı düzeyinin koronavirüs korkusu üzerinde etkili olduğu söylenebilir.

The Effect of Health Literacy Levels on The Fear of Covid-19 Among University Students Studying in The Field of Health

Abstract

This study was carried out to determine the effect of health literacy level on the fear of Covid-19 among university students studying in the field of health. The research is “descriptive and relationship-seeking”. The research was conducted on 541 associate degree students studying at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University, Van Health Services Vocational School, between February 2021 and March 2021. Personal Information Form", Turkey Health Literacy Scale-32 and COVID-19 Fear Scale were used to collect data. In the study, the total mean score of the participants from the THLS-32 scale was 31.81±9.40, and the total mean score from the fear of coronavirus scale was 16.14±7.18. It was found that 20.9% of the students had inadequate Health Literacy level, 36.6% had limited problems, 27.4% had sufficient and 15% had an excellent Health Literacy level. It was found that there was a moderate negative correlation between the health literacy levels of the participants and their coronavirus fear scores, and a statistically significant decrease was found in the coronavirus fear scores as the health literacy levels increased. It can be said that the level of health literacy has an effect on coronavirus fear.
