Bonding Characteristics of Low-Fusing Porcelain Bonded to different Dental Alloys

Year 2005, Volume: 32 Issue: 1 - Volume: 32 Issue: 1, 55 - 63, 01.02.2005

Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the bond compatibility between porcelain-titanium and base metal alloys-porcelain, by using three point bending test. The ceramometal bond strength was evaluated according to DIN draft 13927 with three point bending test. Fractured surfaces of the metal and porcelain were examined macroscopically. The 60 cast plates 25 mmX5 mmX0.4 mm of each group were prepared. A uniform thickness of 1 mm of porcelain was applied along an 8 mm length in the central portion of the metal specimens. The firing schedules followed the recommendations given by the manufacturers. Testing the bond strengths of specimens was performed with a t hree point flexural device on Instron universal testing machine with a span distance of 20 mm. and the load of bond failure was recorded and statically analyzed Instron Corp., Canton, Mass . The bond strength of Base metal alloy/Vita Omega porcelain was significantly greater than low fusing porcelain groups. The bending strength of all groups was found to be within the acceptable standard levels 25N/mm2 . There was no significant difference in the bond strength of low fusing porcelain to different metal alloys.

FARKLI DENTAL ALAŞIMLARI ÜZERİNE HAZIRLANAN DÜŞÜK ISI PORSELENLERİNİN BAĞLANTI KARAKTERİZASYONU

Year 2005, Volume: 32 Issue: 1 - Volume: 32 Issue: 1, 55 - 63, 01.02.2005
