Tokat İline bağlı Zile, tarihten beri Anadolu’nun en önemli ve eski merkezlerinden
biridir. Zile’yi, Irak’ta bulunan Ninova Kraliçesi Semiramis’in kurduğuna
inanılmaktadır. Sonraları Zile’ye Hititler hükmetti. Çivi yazılı kil tabletlere göre,
Hititler zamanında Zile ve Maşathöyük önemli yerleşim yerleridir. M. Ö. 47’de
Roma İmparatoru Caesar ve Pontus Kralı PharnakesPharnakes Zile yakınlarında
savaştı. PharnakesPharnakes’yi yenen Caesar, tarihin en kısa ve ünlü mektubunu
yazdı, Veni Vidi Vici (Geldim, gördüm, yendim). Gerçekleştirilen bu derleme çalışması,
savaşın nerede yapıldığı konusunda bir incelemedir.

Zile belonged to province of Tokat is the one of the oldest and most important centre in Anatolia from history. It is believed that Zile was established by Semiramis, Queen of Ninova in Iraq. Later then Hettheus ruled the Zile. Related with cuneiform clay tablets Zile and also Tapigga were important places during Hettheus time. In B.C. 47 Roman Emperor of Julius Caesar and Pontus King of Pharnake battled near Zile. Caesar defeated Pharnake and after the war he sent the shortest and the most famous letter of history in which a sentence of “Veni, Vidi, Vici” (I came, I saw, I defeated). This study was carried out to review the information about where the war happened.
