                            <p>Theaim of this study is to reveal the effects on students of a knowledgecompetition as a part of competitive education approach. A case study using qualitative researchmethods was adopted. The working group of this study consisted of a total of 44students, 15 male and 29 female, having education in the 5th grades of asecondary school. Observation and documents were used as a method of datacollection. The documents investigated in this study were the letters writtenby the students to indicate their feelings before and after the knowledgecompetition. A descriptive analysis method was used while analysing the data.As a result of this study it emerged that at the beginning of the competition,most of the students stated that they felt excited and happy to compete and theywere happy that the competition was done. It was also seen that at thebeginning of the competition, a great number of students were focused on&quot;winning&quot; and &quot;competition&quot; instead of &quot;learning”.After the competition, it was seen that most of the students who had generallypositive opinions about the competition before the competition changed theiropinions negatively and some of the students had feelings like ambition andrevenge because of losing the competition. According to the results of the research,some suggestions were developed.</p></trans-abstract>
                                                                                                                                    <abstract><p>Buçalışmanın amacı, rekabete dayalı eğitim anlayışı bağlamında yapılan bir bilgiyarışmasının öğrenciler üzerine etkilerini ortaya koymaktır. Betimsel taramayöntemi kullanılan bu araştırmada nitel araştırma desenlerinden bütüncül tekdurum çalışması deseni benimsenmiştir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 2016-2017eğitim öğretim yılında Düzce ilinde yer alan bir ortaokulun 5-A ve 5-Bsınıflarında eğitim gören 44 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada veri toplamayöntemi olarak gözlem ve doküman incelemesi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmadaincelenen dokümanlar, bilgi yarışması öncesinde ve sonrasında öğrencilerin buuygulama hakkındaki duygu ve düşüncelerini belirttikleri metinlerdir. Verilerinanalizinde betimsel analiz yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonunda; yarışmaöncesi öğrencilerin büyük bir kısmının yarışma yapılacağı için kendileriniheyecanlı/mutlu hissettikleri ve yarışma yapılacağından memnun olduklarıgörülmüştür. Ayrıca yarışma öncesinde öğrencilerin bir kısmının yapılacak olanyarışmanın öğrenmelerine katkı sağlayacağını düşündükleri görülmektedir.Bununla birlikte öğrencilerin bir kısmının yarışmaya katılamamaktan dolayıüzüntü yaşadıkları, bazı öğrencilerin de streslendiği, tedirgin olduğu vekorktuğu belirlenmiştir. Yarışma öncesinde öğrencilerin çok büyük bir kısmının“öğrenme” olgusu yerine “kazanmak” ve “rekabet” olgularına odaklandıklarıgörülmüştür. Yarışma öncesinde yarışma hakkında genel olarak olumlu görüşleresahip olan öğrencilerin çok büyük bir kısmının yarışma sonrasında olumsuz yöndefikir değiştirdikleri, yarışmayı kaybeden öğrencilerin bir kısmında dahırs/intikam duygularının oluştuğu belirlenmiştir. Yarışma sonrasında hemyarışmayı kaybeden öğrencilerin hem de yarışmayı kazanan öğrencilerinüzüldükleri görülmüştür. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre rekabetin, kazanan vekaybedenin olmadığı, herkesin kazandığı ve öğrendiği eğlenceli eğitimortamlarının düzenlenmesi önerilmiştir.</p></abstract>
