                                                                                                <abstract><p>Reading interest is a power that moves the mindof an individual into action and directs it to read. This power provides avariety of benefits such as reading, habit formation, language, mental andsocial skills development. This is the reason for being tried to improve fromearly ages. This interest begins with choosing interesting books and texts,reading and analysing them, and transferring learning into practice. In thisprocess, the texts chosen by the students make it easy to read carefully, tounderstand well and to remember. It also supports the development of learning,inquiry, research, self-improvement, and lifelong learning skills of thestudents. The nature and depth of the reading interest is a subjective manner.Students are interested in reading various genres such as continuous-interval,activating-passivating, motion or subject-oriented, concrete-numerical,verbal-numerical, individual or group-based. For this, it is emphasized todetermine the quality and level of students&#039; reading interest. Following thispurpose, variables such as age and sex are taken into consideration as astarting point, observations are made, questionnaire administration, usingvarious methods, text selection and environment editing. Thus, it is aimed todevelop reading interest, to increase fondly reading, to develop readingskills, to turn students to be good readers and to continue life-long learning.</p></abstract>

                            <p>Okuma ilgisi bireyin zihnini harekete geçiren ve okumaya yönlendiren birgüçtür. Bu güç okumayı sevme, alışkanlık haline getirme, dil, zihinsel vesosyal becerileri geliştirme gibi çeşitli yararlar sağlamaktadır. Bunun içinerken yaşlardan itibaren geliştirmeye çalışılmaktadır. Bu ilgi okumaya yönelmeile başlamakta, ilginç gelen kitap ve metinleri seçme, bunları okuma ve inceleme,öğrenilenleri uygulamaya aktarma olarak ilerlemektedir. Bu süreçte öğrencilerinmetinleri dikkatli okuma, iyi anlama ve hatırlamasını kolaylaştırmaktadır.Ayrıca öğrenme, sorgulama, araştırma, kendini geliştirme, hayat boyu öğrenmegibi becerilerin gelişimini desteklemektedir. Okuma ilgisinin niteliği vederinliği kişiye göre değişmektedir. Öğrencilerde sürekli-aralıklı,aktifleştiren- pasifleştiren, hareket ya da konu ağırlıklı, somut -soyut,sözel- sayısal, bireysel ya da gruba dayalı gibi çeşitli niteliklerdeokuma ilgisi görülmektedir. Bunun için öğrencilerin okuma ilgisinin nitelik vedüzeyini belirleme üzerinde önemle durulmaktadır. Bu amaçla yaş, cinsiyet gibideğişkenlerden hareket edilmekte, gözlem yapma, anket uygulama, çeşitliyöntemler kullanma, metni seçme, ortamı düzenleme gibi çalışmalaryapılmaktadır. Böylece okuma ilgisini geliştirme, öğrencilerin kitaplarıseverek okumaları, okuma becerilerini geliştirmeleri, iyi okuyucu olmaları veöğrenmeyi hayat boyu sürdürmeleri hedeflenmektedir.</p></trans-abstract>
