A descriptive and explanatory study about vocabulary presentation techniques of English teachers in primary and secondary schools in Turkey

Year 2017, Volume: 6 Issue: 2, 218 - 234, 21.06.2017

Abstract

This
study was conducted in order to identify vocabulary presentation and teaching
techniques English teachers working in primary and secondary schools in Turkey
preferred in their classes. Moreover, the relationships between these
techniques and their opinions about vocabulary teaching, their educational
backgrounds and in-service training they attended to were researched. For these
purposes, a questionnaire was developed according to the literature reviewed by
the researcher and applied to the teachers. What is more, interviews were done
with some teachers, and the classes of two teachers were observed with their
consent. Data collected from all tools were analyzed, discussed, and the study was
concluded.
