Investigation of Preschool Children's Perspective T aking Skills in Terms of Mother Attitudes

Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the effect of mother's attitude on preschool children's perspective taking skills. The universe of the research, which is carried out descriptively in the relational survey model, consists of preschool children and their mothers who study in public kindergartens in the central districts of Kahramanmaraş (Onikişubat and Dulkadiroğlu) in the 2019-2020 academic year. The sample of the study consists of 256 children and 256 mothers selected from the universe by simple random sampling method. In the research, “Personal Information Form”, “Perspective Taking Test for Children” and “Parental Attitude Scale” were used as data collection tools. As a result of the research, it was determined that democratic mother attitude positively affects the ability to take perspective, and overprotective mother attitude negatively affects the ability to take perspective. It was found that authoritarian and permissive mother attitudes did not significantly affect their ability to take perspective. Besides, a significant relation was found between the duration of preschool education, family income level, parents-graduation status, maternal age, parental occupation, and the ability to take perspective. No significant relationship was found between gender, number of children in the family, child's birth order, father's age variables and ability to take perspective.

Okul Öncesi Dönem Çocukların Bakış Açısı Alma Becerilerinin Anne Tutumları Açısından İncelenmesi

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı okul öncesi dönem çocuklarının bakış açısı alma becerilerine anne tutumunun etkisini incelemektir. İlişkisel tarama modelinde betimsel olarak gerçekleştirilen araştırmanın evrenini, 2019-2020 eğitim-öğretim yılında Kahramanmaraş ili merkez ilçelerindeki (Onikişubat ve Dulkadiroğlu) kamu anaokullarında öğrenim gören okul öncesi dönem çocukları ve anneleri oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın örneklemini ise evren içerisinden basit seçkisiz örneklem yöntemiyle seçilen 256 çocuk ve 256 anne oluşturmuştur. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak “Kişisel Bilgi Formu”, “Çocuklar İçin Bakış Açısı Alma Testi” ve “Ebeveyn Tutum Ölçeği” kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda demokratik anne tutumunun bakış açısı alma becerilerini olumlu etkilediği, aşırı koruyucu anne tutumunun bakış açısı alma becerisini olumsuz etkilediği belirlenmiştir. Otoriter ve izin verici anne tutumunun ise bakış açısı alma becerilerini anlamlı olarak etkilemediği tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca okul öncesi eğitime devam süresi, aile gelir düzey, anne-baba mezuniyet durumu, anne yaşı, anne-baba mesleği değişkenleri ile bakış açısı alma becerisi arasında anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmuştur. Cinsiyet, ailedeki çocuk sayısı, çocuğun doğum sırası, baba yaşı değişkenleri ile bakış açısı alma becerisi arasında anlamlı bir ilişki bulunamamıştır.
