Abstract

Objective: This study was conducted to determine the relationship between the quality of life of pregnant women and the acceptance of pregnancy and some factors.
Methods: The data of the descriptive cross-sectional study were collected by interviewing 407 pregnant women who applied to the obstetrics clinic-outpatient clinic in a university hospital in the Central Anatolia Region between January and December 2021. “Personal Information Form,” “World Health Organization Short Form of Quality of Life Scale,” and “Prenatal Self-assessment Scale” were used to collect data. In the study, descriptive statistics, analysis of variance, Student’s t test, and Pearson correlation analyses were used to evaluate the data (p < .05).
Results: The mean scores of the sub-dimensions of the pregnant women’s quality of life scale were determined as 11.26, 12.61, 12.46, and 12.70, respectively. The mean score of the acceptance of pregnancy sub-dimension was determined as 43.25. It has been determined that educational status, income status, trimester, and number of pregnancies are factors affecting the sub-dimensions of quality of life. It has been determined that there is a positive relationship between acceptance of pregnancy and quality of life.
Conclusion: It was determined that the quality of life of the pregnant women participating in the study was affected by some socio-demographic and obstetric factors, and there was a positive relationship between acceptance of pregnancy and quality of life. It is recommended that midwife and nurses provide counseling to increase the quality of life of pregnant women.
