                                                                                                <abstract><p>Derlemenin amacı 2012 yılında yeni tanımlanmış MERS (OrtaDoğu Solunum Sendromu) hastalığı etkeni olan MERS-CoV (Orta Doğu SolunumSendromu Coronavirüs) virüsünü tanımak ve günümüze kadar neden olduğu olguartışlarını ortaya koymaktır. Aynı Coronavirüs ailesinde yer alan salgın etkeniSARS’dan (%11) daha yüksek fatalite hızına (%34.4) sahip MERS-CoV salgınları,ilk tanımlandığından bu yana 27 ülkede, 858 ölüm dahil toplam 2494 olgu ileküresel bir halk sağlığı tehdidi haline gelmiştir. Özellikle yakın temas ilebulaşmakta olan MERS-CoV virüsü hastane kaynaklı salgınlara neden olarakinsandan insana yayılabilmektedir.</p></abstract>
                                                                                                                                    <trans-abstract xml:lang="en">
                            <p>The aim of this review is to learn about MERS (Middle EastRespiratory Syndrome) and track its increasing occurence since its firstidentification in 2012. The outbreaks of MERS-CoV have a higher fatality rate(34.4%) than the SARS virus(11%) which is also under the Coronavirus family,has become a global threat with 2494 cases and 858 deaths across 27 countriessince it was first diagnosed. The virus can be easily transmitted by closecontact and cause hospital based outbreaks, spreading from human to human.</p></trans-abstract>
