<p>Breastfeeding is the most appropriate form of nutrition for infant growth and development. Midwives play a key role in supporting mothers to initiate and sustain breastfeeding. Therefore, it is essential for midwifery students to gain competence in breastfeeding counselling during their undergraduate education. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of simulation-based breastfeeding counselling training on midwifery students’ practical skills, perceptions, and knowledge about breastfeeding. This one-group pretest–posttest quasi-experimental study was conducted using the ‘Introductory Information Form’, ‘Perception Scale of Adults about Breast Milk’, ‘Breastfeeding Skills Assessment Form’, and ‘Information Form about Breastfeeding’. The study population included third-year midwifery students who took the breastfeeding counselling course (n=46), and the study was completed with 45 students between 26/03/2024 and 30/06/2024. The average age of the participants was 21.4±0.86 years, and all participants were single. Pre-training mean scores were 70.68±9.23 for breastfeeding skills, 132.29±17.54 for perception of breast milk, and 54.49 ± 10.21 for breastfeeding knowledge. Post-training scores increased to 98.60±10.51, 141.93±7.23, and 69.16±10.70, respectively. These improvements were statistically significant (p</p></trans-abstract>
