Salât, which contains many concepts that contain blessings in Arabic; It is possible to define as "wishing Allah's mercy, forgiveness, blessings and all kinds of goodness to be upon Prophet Muhammad" briefly. Reading the prayer texts, which every Muslim should read in accordance with the religious texts (verses and hadiths), accompanied by music constitutes the "salât" type in religious Turkish music. Salât, which is one of the religious Turkish music types most preferred by the Muslim Anatolian people salât, is also called "salavat/salavat-ı şerife", ıt was performed with great enthusiasm in dervish lodges which are places where sufi thought turns into practice and in mosques which are places of worship and it has been read in order to sanctify almost every important phase of human life. The great popularity shown to this genre has led to the emergence of numerous salâts and some of these salats have been recorded and have come to the present day, but some of them were unfortunately forgotten because they could not be recorded. However there are also salats that have not been recorded yet, although they continue to exist traditionally in many regions of Anatolia and one of them is the work called salâtüselâm in the Uşşak mode, performed in Elazığ region. This work, which also constitutes the subject of our study, is read by the mystic circles (especially Kâdirîler) in the region.
Arapçada hayır dua içeren pekçok kavramı ihtiva eden salâtı kısaca; “Hz. Muhammed’e (s.a.v.) merhamet, mağfiret, feyz ü bereket vs. hayırlar ihsan etmesini Allah’tan (c.c.) dilemek” şeklinde tanımlamak mümkündür. Dinî naslar (âyet ve hadisler) icabı her müslümanın söylemesi gereken salât metinlerini mûsikî eşliğinde okumak, dinî Türk mûsikîsinde “salât” türünü meydana getirmektedir. Müslüman Anadolu insanının en fazla rağbet ettiği dinî Türk mûsikîsi türlerinden biri olan salât, “salâtüselâm” veya “salavat/salavat-ı şerife” olarak da adlanlandırılmış, ibadet mekânları olan câmilerde ve tasavvufî düşüncenin pratiğe dönüştüğü yerler olan tekkelerde büyük bir iştiyakla icra edilmiş, insan hayatının hemen her önemli safhasında teberrüken okunmuştur. Bu türe gösterilen büyük rağbet, pek çok salâtın ortaya çıkmasına vesile olmuş, bunlardan bir kısmı kayıt altına alınarak günümüze gelebilmiş, ancak bir kısmı da kayıt altına alınamadığından dolayı maalesef unutulmuştur. Ancak Anadolunun birçok yöresinde geleneksel olarak varlığını sürdürmesine rağmen henüz kaydedilmemiş salâtlar da vardır ve bunlardan biri de Elazığ yöresinde icra edilen Uşşak makamındaki “salâtüselâm” adlı eserdir. Çalışmamızın konusunu da oluşturan bu eser, bölgedeki tasavvuf çevreleri (özellikle de Kâdirîler) tarafından okunmaktadır.
