<p>This study examines occupational commitment, occupational motivation, and intentions to leave the policing profession among police officers who graduated from PMYO and POMEM, using both quantitative and qualitative data. A total of 429 police officers participated in this cross-sectional study. Closed-ended questions were analyzed using descriptive and comparative statistics, while open-ended questions were examined through qualitative content analysis. The findings indicate that occupational commitment is generally at a moderate-to-high level, with no significant differences between PMYO and POMEM graduates. Mean motivation levels are moderate; however, POMEM graduates exhibit statistically higher motivation than PMYO graduates, with a small effect size. A substantial proportion of participants reported considering leaving the policing profession, with reasons primarily related to long and irregular working hours and dissatisfaction with pay and employment benefits. Qualitative findings reveal that reported challenges and proposed solutions cluster around work schedules, role and task clarity, managerial practices, and rights and safeguards. In evaluations of university education among POMEM graduates, communication skills and cognitive and affective contributions were emphasized more than direct occupational applicability.</p></trans-abstract>
