Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı, sınıf dışı ortamlar için 5E öğretim modeline göre hazırlanmış ders planlarının öğrencilerin Fen Bilimleri dersi akademik başarılarına etkisini incelemektir. 2014‐2015 öğretim yılında MEB’e bağlı bir ortaokulda gerçekleştirilen çalışmaya, 6. sınıflarda öğrenim gören 30 deney, 30 kontrol grubu olmak üzere toplam 60 ortaokul öğrencisi katılmıştır. Ön test son test kontrol gruplu deneysel desene göre gerçekleştirilen çalışma için 6. Sınıf Fen Bilimleri dersi “Kuvvet ve Hareket” ünitesi seçilmiştir. Toplam 4 hafta süren çalışma kapsamında deney grubunda sınıf dışı ortamlar için 5E öğretim modeline göre hazırlanmış ders planları uygulanırken, kontrol grubunda ise öğretim programının belirttiği şekilde dersler işlenmiştir. Araştırmanın verileri araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen akademik başarı testi ve yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formundan elde edilmiştir. Araştırmanın sonucunda hem kontrol hem de deney grubu öğrencilerinin akademik başarılarının anlamlı düzeyde arttığı tespit edilmiştir. Bunun yanı sıra yapılan deney grubu öğrencileri ile kontrol grubu öğrencilerinin son test puanları arasında da deney grubu lehine anlamlı bir farkın olduğu tespit edilmiştir.

THE EFFECTS OF OUT OF CLASS TEACHING ACTIVITIES TO SECONDARY SHOOL STUDENTS’ ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT IN SCIENCE COURSE

Abstract

The effects of lesson plans, which are prepared in terms of 5E education model for out‐of‐
class settings, on academic achievement of Science course are examined in this study. 60
secondary school students including 30 experiment and 30 control groups attended to this study
which took place in a secondary school of the Ministry of Education in 2014‐2015 academic year.
For the study, which was performed in terms of pretest‐posttest experimental design, 6th grade
“Force and Motion” unit was selected. For the study which lasted for 4 weeks, lesson plans which
are prepared in terms of 5E education model for out‐of‐class settings were practiced while
lessons were taught according to education program in control group. Data from the study was
taken from the academic achievement test and semi‐structured interview form that was
developed by the researcher. As a result of the study, it was determined that both groups
academic achievement increased significantly. In addition, as a result of the analysis that was
made on experimental group students and control group students, a significant difference was
seen in favour of experimental group.
