<p>Objective: This research was carried out as a descriptive study for the evaluation of oral health conditions and practices in children with autism in school age. Material and Methods: The population of the study was from 7-12 age students who were affected by autism in public education centers in the province of Ankara. Sampling 186 students were included. As data collection tools; Socio-Demographic Information Form and Family and Child Oral-Dental Health Data Collection Form were used. Results: As a result of the research; 69.9% of the participants were male, 89.9% could not brush their teeth themselves, 48.4 % were found to use the drug that affects oral and dental health and 68.3% had caries tooth. The variables of children were evaluated by logistic regression analysis. There was no significant effect of the parent&#039;s brushing on tooth decay, while maternal education level had a significant effect. It was found that tooth brushing had no significant effect on tooth filling, and the age of the child had a very significant effect. Conclusion: As a result, children with autism who are special groups face oral and dental health problems as a result of their difficulties in meeting their own care. Therefore, it is recommended that school health nurses should take preventive measures for preventive oral health</p></trans-abstract>

Örnekleme 186 öğrenci dahil edilmiştir. Veri toplama araçları olarak; Sosyo-demografik Bilgi Formu ile Aile ve Çocuk Ağız-Diş Sağlığı Veri Toplama Formu kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Araştırma sonucunda; katılımcıların %69.9’u erkek, %89.9’unun dişlerini kendileri fırçalayamadığı, %48.’4’ünün ağız ve diş sağlığını etkileyen ilaç kullandığı ve %68.3’ünün çürük dişinin olduğu bulunmuştur. Çocukların değişkenleri lojistik regresyon analizi sonuçları ile değerlendirilmiştir. Diş çürüğü üzerine ebeveynin diş fırçalama şeklinin anlamlı düzeyde etkisi olmadığı, anne eğitim düzeyinin ise anlamlı düzeyde etkisi olduğu bulunurken; diş dolgusu durumuna diş fırçalamanın anlamlı düzeyde etkisi olmadığı, çocuğun yaşının çok anlamlı düzeyde etkisi olduğu bulunmuştur.Sonuç: Özel grup olan otizmli çocuklar kendi öz bakımlarını karşılamada güçlük çekmeleri sonucunda ağız ve diş sağlığı problemleri ile karşı karşıya kalmaktadır. Bu nedenle okul sağlığı hemşirelerinin koruyucu ağız diş sağlığı konusunda koruyucu önlemleri almaları önerilmektedir</p>
