Sosyal Bilgiler Öğretmenlerinin Uzaktan Eğitimde Kullandıkları Yöntem ve Tekniklere İlişkin Bir İnceleme

Abstract

Bu araştırma sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin uzaktan eğitimde kullandıkları yöntem ve teknikleri belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırma, durum çalışması deseninde nitel bir çalışmadır. Çalışma grubu, amaçlı örnekleme yöntemlerinden tipik durum örneklemesi doğrultusunda oluşturulmuştur. Öğretmenlerin uzaktan eğitim sürecinde ne tür yöntem ve teknikleri kullandıklarını tespit edebilmek amacıyla bir açık uçlu anket formu oluşturulmuştur. Çalışma kapsamında oluşturulan açık uçlu anket formu vasıtasıyla veriler toplanmıştır. Araştırma kapsamında elde edilen veriler içerik analizi yöntemi kullanılarak çözümlenmiş ve bu veriler kavramsal kategorilere ayrılarak yorumlanmıştır. Araştırmaya toplamda 50 sosyal bilgiler öğretmeni katılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda; sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin uzaktan eğitim sürecinde; düz anlatım/sunuş yolu ve soru cevap yöntemlerini daha çok kullandıkları, genel itibariyle uzaktan eğitimle yürütülen sosyal bilgiler derslerinde ders programına uygun yöntem ve tekniklerin tam ve nitelikli bir şekilde kullanılamadığı belirlenmiştir. Öğretmenlerin büyük bir bölümü uzaktan eğitimle yüz yüze eğitim arasında farklılıklar olduğunu ifade etmişlerdir. Uzaktan eğitimle yürütülen sosyal bilgiler derslerinin teknoloji/internet kullanımının yararları ve ekonomiklik/zamandan tasarruf gibi avantajları olduğu, dersin anlaşılma/öğrenilme durumunun bilinememesi ve etkileşim eksikliğinin ise uzaktan eğitimin dezavantajları olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Öğretmenler ayrıca öğrenciyi aktif hale getirecek yöntemler/uygulamalarla görsel ve video kullanımını tavsiye etmişlerdir.

A Study of The Methods and Techniques Used by Social Studies Teachers in Distance Learning

Abstract

The present study aims to determine the methods and techniques that Social Studies Teachers use in online teaching. It is a qualitative case study. The workgroup is formed within the scope of typical case sampling, which is one of the purposive sampling methods. In order to determine the methods and techniques the teachers used during the online teaching process, an open-ended questionnaire is designed. Within the scope of the study, the data is elicited by making use of the questionnaire. The obtained data is analyzed by content analysis method, divided into conceptual categories and interpreted accordingly. 50 Social Studies teachers participated in the study. According to the findings of the study, it is determined that, during the online teaching process, the teachers mainly prefer to use direct instruction/presentation and question/answer methods, while they mainly disregard the curriculum and the methods and techniques required for the learning outcomes of the Social Studies course. The majority of the teachers has remarked that there are differences between online and face-to-face teaching. It is determined that, online teaching has some advantages such as developing technology/internet using skills as well as being economical and time saving; while it has some disadvantages such as the lack of interaction, communication, and the difficulties in assessment the designation of the level of learning. The teachers also recommended some audio-visual tools as well as methods and applications for making students more active during online classes.
