The Way from Doubt to Cartesian Thought

Abstract

In this study, it was tried to investigate Descartes’
views on being and knowledge in the context of his ‘methodical doubt’. In this
direction it was discussed and approached those philosophical problems which
are emerged from fields of being and knowledge. My research question is how to
Descartes crossed from principles which take to the true knowledge to Cartesian
sense of being, in other words the problem is how the methodical doubt
prioritises cogito, later on how to
distinguish res cogitans from extensa to reach true knowledge. So in
this study, it is discussed that philosophical problems about Cartesian sense
of being and knowledge. These problems and discussions were evaluated in our
introductory study by taking into consideration social, political and
scientific developments in his century. In this regard it was tried to
illuminate the search of exploring of method in seventeenth century. In the
last part of our study it was investigated the effect of the decentralization
of the subject in the route of philosophy which was caused by Descartes on the
path of philosophy.

Şüpheden Kartezyen Düşünceye Giden Yol

Abstract

Bu çalışmada
Descartes’ın ‘metodik şüphe’si bağlamında varlık ve bilgi görüşü araştırılmış,
bu amaçla onun yöntem anlayışı çerçevesinde varlık ve bilgi alanlarında ortaya
çıkan felsefi sorunlar ele alınıp tartışılmıştır. Çalışmadaki sorun,
Descartes’ın doğru bilgiye götürecek olan ilkelerden hareketle Kartezyen varlık
anlayışına nasıl geçtiği, diğer bir ifadeyle metodik şüphenin cogito’yu nasıl önceleyip sonrasında
hakiki bilgiye ulaşmak üzere res cogitans’ı
extensa’dan nasıl ayırdığıdır. Bu
anlamda çalışmada Kartezyen varlık ve bilgi görüşüne dair oluşan felsefi
meseleler ele alınmıştır. Söz konusu sorunlar ve tartışmalar, filozofun çağının
getirdiği sosyal, siyasal ve bilimsel gelişmelerden de ayrı tutulmayarak
‘Giriş’ mahiyetindeki çalışmamızla değerlendirilmiş ve bu bağlamda 17. yüzyılın
yöntem bulma arayışına ışık tutulmaya çalışılmıştır. Çalışmamızın son kısmında
ise felsefenin güzergahında Descartes’ın yol açtığı öznenin ademi
merkeziyetliğinin felsefe mahalindeki etkisi soruşturulmuştur.
