Europe which set forth the several various stages of colonialism endavoured in order to establish a colonial empire in Far East in the 18th century. The West tried different ways to colonize China at this stage but the most important of these was the sale of opium through smuggling. This situation which would distrupt the import-export balance of a powerful empire would be a reason to accelerate the collapse of the empire. In this study I will examine the influence of the West on China within the scope of 19th century and how China was experiencing this process.
