                                                                                                <abstract><p>Sis hadisesi havacılık açısından kritik öneme sahiptir. Havaalanı operasyonlarının düzenlenmesinde meteorolojik veri açısından başlıca etkisi olan sis, birçok araştırmacının çalışma konusu olmaktadır. Bu çalışmada Çarşamba Havalimanı (LTFH)’ye ait 2018-2023 periyodu METAR ve SPECI verileri kullanılarak havalimanı özelinde yaşanan sis hadiselerinin istatistiksel analizi yıllık, mevsimlik ve aylık periyotlarda gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bununla birlikte görüş mesafesi, sıcaklık, havacılık kriterleri ve birincil oluşum mekanizmasına göre sis hadiseleri sınıflandırılmıştır. Samsun’un denize kıyısı olması yüksek miktarda nispi nem sağlarken, şiddetli rüzgarların nadir görülmesi sisin dağılmasını engeller bu durum LTFH’ de sis hadisesinin oluşumu için elverişli koşullar oluşturur. Bu çalışmada elde edilen analiz bulguları, incelenen meteorolojik hadiselerin gerçekleşme ihtimallerinin tahmininde ve operasyon planlamalarında göz önüne alınması, uçuş takvimlerindeki aksaklıkların asgariye indirilebilmesini sağlayabilecektir. Ayrıca sis hadiselerinin sıklaştığı dönemler için çeşitli meteorolojik analiz ürünlerinden faydalanılarak, meteorolojik hadiselerin oluşum nedenleri ortaya konularak doğruluk oranı yüksek tahminlerin yapılmasına katkı sağlayabilecektir.</p></abstract>

                            <p>Fog plays a critical role in aviation, significantly influencing airport operations as a key meteorological factor. This study conducts a statistical analysis of fog events at Çarşamba Airport (LTFH) using METAR and SPECI data for the period between 2018 and 2023, examining these events on annual, seasonal, and monthly scales. Additionally, fog events were categorized based on visibility, temperature, aviation criteria, and primary formation mechanisms. Samsun&#039;s coastal location, which promotes high relative humidity, coupled with the infrequent occurrence of strong winds that hinder fog dispersion, creates favourable conditions for fog formation at LTFH. The findings of this analysis can assist in estimating the probabilities of meteorological events, integrating these estimates into operational planning, and minimizing disruptions to flight schedules. Furthermore, by utilizing various meteorological analysis tools during periods of frequent fog occurrences, the underlying causes of these meteorological events can be identified, thereby contributing to the development of highly accurate forecasts.</p></trans-abstract>
