Armenians, which lived in peace and tranquility in the same geography as the Turks for a long time, started to immigrate abroad in the 19th century, partially due to their own desire, partially due to the incentive of other states, partially due to the pressure of the diaspora Armenians. They related these immigration reasons to the Ottoman Empire's political pressure. However, Ottoman Empire was not in favor of the immigration of either the Armenians which they saw as their own citizen, or the other Christian groups or the Muslims. Nonetheless, despite all the precautions, the immigration incident continued intensely in the second half of the 19th century and at the beginning of the 20th century. The Armenians who immigrated to the United States of America after the immigration tried to preserve their national identities through the colonies that they created there. However, they determined the hostility towards the Ottoman and Turk as a common aim in this identity preservation. Expressly, countless articles to the detriment of Turkishness and Ottoman were published in the local and national press with the beginning of the occurrence of the diaspora. Most of these news are far from reality and were made completely to serve the interests of Armenians and great states and made through their conduction.In this work, besides from the Ottoman Archive Documents, the keywords between the years of 1890-1915 from a newspaper archive containing 19.717.204 pages, which was published in the United States of America between 1777-1963 and transferred to a digital platform, were scanned. While these bits of information were being subjected to the assessment through a text analysis method, the books and articles about the subject were analyzed as well.
Uzun yıllar Türkler ile aynı coğrafyada huzur ve barış içerisinde yaşayan Ermeniler, 19. yüzyılda kısmen kendi istekleri, kısmen diğer devletlerin teşviki, kısmen diaspora Ermenilerinin baskısı ile başta Amerika Birleşik Devletleri olmak üzere yurtdışına göç etmeye başladılar. Bu göç nedenlerini de Osmanlı Devleti’nin siyasi baskısına bağladılar. Fakat Osmanlı Devleti bu süreçte kendi vatandaşı olarak gördüğü ne Ermenilerin, ne diğer Hristiyan grupların ne de Müslümanların göçmesinden yanaydı. Fakat tüm tedbirlere rağmen 19. yüzyılın ikinci yarısı ve 20. yüzyılın başlarında göç hadisesi yoğun bir şekilde devam etti. Göç sonrası Amerika Birleşik Devletleri’ne göç eden Ermeniler, burada oluşturdukları kolonileri ile milli benliklerini korumaya çalıştı. Fakat bu benlik korumada Osmanlı ve Türk düşmanlığı yapmayı ortak hedef olarak belirlediler. Bilhassa diasporanın oluşmaya başlaması ile yerel ve ulusal basında Türklük ve Osmanlı aleyhine sayısız yazı çıkmıştır. Bu haberlerin birçoğu gerçeklikten uzak tamamen Ermeni ve büyük devletlerin çıkarlarına hizmet etmek için ve onların yönlendirmesi ile yapılmıştır. Bu çalışmamızda Osmanlı Arşiv Belgelerinin yanı sıra Amerika Birleşik Devletleri’nde 1777-1963 yılları arasında yayın yapan ve dijital ortama aktarılan 19.717.204 sayfalık gazete arşivinden 1890-1915 yılları arası anahtar kelimeler üzerinden taranmıştır. Bu bilgiler metin analizi yöntemi ile değerlendirmeye tabi tutulurken konu ile ilgili kitap ve makaleler de incelenmiştir.
