Abstract
The aim of foreign language teaching is to gain for basic language skills just like in native language teaching. Achieving the stated goal depends largely on the way of teaching methods and techniques. Textbooks are one of the most concrete forms of teaching. In order to reveal the relationship of the specified facts with each other in this study, it is aimed to determine the methods and techniques in the Yedi İklim textbooks activities used in Turkish teaching as a foreign language and to examine them in terms of various variables. Yedi İklim Turkish Teaching Set A2 B2 C2 level textbooks prepared by Yunus Emre Institute were used as examples in the study. These levels are preferred because they cover the skills that must be acquired to complete each language level. In the study, data were collected from qualitative research patterns using document review method. In the data obtained, control lists titled theme, text name, activities and method-technique used were created and frequency tables of method-techniques were extracted. In order to ensure reliability, the data obtained were examined by an expert and interpreted by descriptive analysis method. In the conclusion section, the distribution of methods and techniques to skills was examined and it was determined that the methods/techniques most commonly used in books were unattended listening in listening skills, participative speech in speech, reading aloud in reading, filling in blanks in writing, filling gaps in word teaching and using them in oral expression, demonstrating and making language knowledge, and question and answer methods from other techniques used in the course process.
