Konteyner Yatırım Kararları için Analitik Bir Yaklaşım

Abstract

Konteyner taşımacılığında, taşıyıcılar taşıma faaliyetlerinde genelde kendi konteynerlerini kullanmaktadır. Bununla birlikte yüksek yatırım miktarı ve yatırım riski dolayısıyla bazen kendi konteynerlerini kullanmak doğru karar olmayabilmektedir. Bu durumda, taşıyıcılar bir süreliğine konteyner kiralayabilir veya müşterilerin kendi konteynerlerini kullanmasını özel navlunlar ve konteyner elleçleme maliyetleri gibi çeşitli şekillerde teşvik edebilir. Böylece hem taşıyıcı ekipman sıkıntısına en ekonomik-sürdürülebilir şekilde çözüm üretir, hem de müşteri daha ekonomik hizmet alımına gidebilir. Özellikle artan rekabet ve konteyner taşımacılığında görülen azalan kâr marjında, bu karar yatırım dengesinin iyi kurulması kaydıyla avantaj sağlayabilir. Bu çalışmada yazar Tip 2-Bulanık TOPSIS’e başvurarak, konteyner yatırımı, konteyner kiralama veya müşterinin kendi konteynerini kullanma durumlarını fayda-maliyet-karlılık ekseninde analiz etmiştir. Araştırma bulguları göstermiştir ki, taşıyıcılar için getirisi nedeniyle en çok başvurulan yaklaşım kendi konteynerlerini kullanmak olmuştur ve çoğu firma tarafından müşteri konteynerini kullanmaya yönelik teşvik edici hamleler bulunmamaktadır. Özellikle boş konteyner temininde sıkıntı yaşanan destinasyonlarda müşteri konteyneri kullanımı ve teşviki, operatörlere maliyet avantajı sağlayabilecektir. Bu sebeple, bazı özel durumlar için müşteri konteyneri kullanımında politika önceliklerinin planlanması önerilmektedir.

An Analytical Approach for Container Investment Decisions

Abstract

In the container transportation, shipping operators are to frequently use own containers for the transportation facilities. Such approaches, however, sometimes may not lead to true decision because of high first investment cost or investment risk in terms of shipping operators. In this situation, shipping operators can hire container for a while or support to use shipper own container with promotive freight rate, container charges etc. Therefore, both the carriers could find an affordable and a sustainable solution to equipment bottleneck and the customers could enable to get more economical service. Especially, in the increasing competition and decreasing profit margin of container transportation, this decision can provide an advantage, but investment-balance should be well established. In this study, author aims to compose of optimal decision-making mechanism for container investment, container hiring or using shipper own container via type 2-fuzzy TOPSIS based on cost-benefit-profitability. The findings of study shows that the shipping operators frequently use their own container due to economic return of containers and most of them have not any encouraging approach towards using shipper’s own container. Specifically, the using shipper own container and encouragement of using in the destination, which have difficulty to ensure empty container, could provide cost advantage to operators. A key policy priority in shipper own container using should therefore be to plan for some special cases.
