Metaverse Uygulama Alanlarının Kelime İlişkilendirme ve Tematik Analizi: Twitter Örneği

Abstract

Metaverse, kullanıcıları bir karakter (avatar) ile çevrimiçi birbirine bağlayan üç boyutlu, sanal bir ortamdır. Metaverse kavramı, bilgisayarlı görü, sanal gerçeklik ve blok zinciri gibi teknolojilerle birlikte iş, sanat, moda, etkinlik, eğitim ve oyun gibi birçok alanda yerini almıştır. Farklı sektörlerde Metaverse kullanımı dikkate alındığında, küresel olarak atılan tweetlerde Metaverse anahtar kelimesi ile ilişkili hangi alanda daha çok tweet atıldığının analiz edilmesi, uygulama açısından yeni bir bakış açısı sağlayabilir. Bu araştırmada, ‘Metaverse’ anahtar kelimesi ile eşleşen tweetler toplanarak, belirlenen uygulama alanları (simülasyon, oyun, ofis ve iş, sosyal, pazarlama ve eğitim) bazında tematik dağılım ortaya konulması amaçlanmıştır. Twitter API kullanılarak, toplamda 10193 İngilizce tweet çalışmaya dâhil edilmiştir. Kelime frekans analizi, kelime ilişkilendirme analizi ve tematik analiz yöntemleri kullanılmıştır. Metaverse anahtar kelimesi içeren tweetlerde istatistiksel olarak anlamlı ilişkilendirilmiş kelimelerin başında %34,4 oranla ‘NFT’ ve %32,4 oranla ‘token’ gelmektedir. Diğer ilişkilendirilmiş kelimelerden bazıları, ‘oyun’, ‘kripto’, ‘P2E’, ‘deneyim’ ve ‘gelir’ olmuştur. Metaverse anahtar kelimesi içeren toplam mesajlarda en çok (%10,6) oyun, ikinci sırada pazarlama teriminin geçtiği görülmüştür. Oyun alanında, istatistiksel olarak anlamlı ilişkilendirilmiş kelimeler içerisinde en çok geçen kelime ‘P2E’ yani ‘oyna-kazan’ ifadesi olmuştur. Simülasyon alanında, %90,9’unda ‘yaşam’, ofis ve iş uygulamaları alanında, ‘ekip’ (%22,4), sosyal uygulamalarda ‘medya’ (%19,5), pazarlama alanında ‘BSC’ (%70,6) ve eğitim alanında ‘NFT’ (%54,4) kelimeleri istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir şekilde ilişkilendirilmiş kelimelerdir. Ortaya çıkan temalar ve alt temalar incelendiğinde, oyun uygulamaları ve blokzinciri teknolojisinin arasında bir bütünleşme gerçekleştiği ve gelecekte de bu bütünleşmenin DeFi ve GameFi gibi kavramlarla giderek artacağı ortaya çıkmaktadır.

Word Association and Thematic Distribution of Metaverse Application Areas: The Twitter Case

Abstract

Metaverse is a 3D virtual environment that connects users online with avatars. It has taken its place in many fields such as business, art, fashion, events, education, and games, together with technologies such as computer vision, virtual reality, and blockchain. Considering the use of Metaverse in different sectors, analyzing the most tweets related to the Metaverse keyword in global tweets can provide a new perspective in terms of practice. This research aims to reveal the thematic distribution of tweets matching the word ‘Metaverse’ based on predetermined areas (simulation, game, office and business, social, marketing and education). Using the Twitter API, 10193 English tweets were included in the study. Word frequency, word association, and thematic analysis methods were used. In tweets containing the Metaverse keyword, the leading words associated with statistical significance were ‘NFT’ with 34,4% and ‘token’ with 32,4%. Other associated words were ‘game’, ‘crypto’, ‘P2E’, ‘experience’, and ‘income’. It was seen that the word game was the most common (10,6%) in the total messages containing the Metaverse keyword. The second common area is marketing. The word ‘P2E’ (play2earn) was the most common word among the statistically significant associated words in the game field. The word ‘life’ (90,9%) in the field of simulation, the word ‘team’ (22,4%) in the field of office and business, the word ‘media’ (19,5%) in the field of social, the word ‘BSC’ (70%) in the field of marketing and the word ‘NFT’ (54,4%) in the field of education were statistically significantly associated. When the themes and sub-themes are examined, it is revealed that there is integration between games and blockchain technology. This integration is expected to gradually increase with concepts such as GameFi and DeFi in the future.
