The journal provides a platform for the publication of qualitative and quantitative research related to curriculum and instruction, original opinions, theoretical studies and model recommendations.
The main objective of IJOCIS is to be a reliable and reputable source of information on the conceptual and applied scientific research in the field of curriculum and instruction at national and international level.
The Association of Curriculum and Instruction aims at creating a common scientific platform for theoretical and practical research in the field of curriculum and instruction by bringing together all the practitioners working in the field through IJOCIS.
The aim of the International Journal of Curriculum and Instructional Studies (IJOCIS) is to create a platform, to share the scientific and educational programs of the researchers and educators who produce and use this information in the field of conceptual and applied scientific studies. Topics that constitute the scope of the journal are; original qualitative and quantitative studies on curriculum and instruction, addressing the current topic and the issues in this field, criticizing, evaluating studies, meta-analysis studies and studies presenting original ideas and model proposals.

Submissions to International Journal of Curriculum and Instructional Studies must include all authors’ names in the correct order during the submission. No author names can be added after submission. If an exclusion of an author’s name or a change in the order of authors are requested, a written and signed (by all of the authors) request form must be sent.
Authors hold the full responsibility for submitted manuscripts to International Journal of Curriculum and Instructional Studies. If there is a conflict of interest with other person(s), organization(s), or institution(s), this should be stated before evaluation process is started.
Manuscripts submitted to International Journal of Curriculum and Instructional Studies must be original and have not been fully or partly published before. All submissions go through plagiarism/uniformity control process in multiple software. It should be noted that uniformity with the author(s) previous work is also considered plagiarism. Submissions with plagiarist acts are rejected and are not accepted again.
Editorial Board has also decided that studies that include only scale development and validation are not acceptable . Original studies where the practicality of the scale is tested may be accepted for review after.
Author(s) must accept that the content, the findings, and the conclusions of the submitted manuscripts does not bind the Owner, the Editor, the Assistant Editor, Editorial Board Members, or Scientific Committee Members of International Journal of Curriculum and Instructional Studies (IJOCIS).

Copyrights for articles published in International Journal of Curriculum and Instructional Studies (IJOCIS) are retained by the authors. Global or Self Plagiarism
Authors cannot use other researchers’ opinions fully or thoughts as their own. Similarly, authors cannot use thoughts, opinions, and parts of research from their own previous work without citing properly.
International Journal of Curriculum and Instructional Studies publishes articles in English with an extended Turkish summary. Authors are required to prepare their submission following the steps in the journal’s web site and submit the files prepared using the Template. The authors must upload 1) Title Page, 2) Blind Review Text based on the template without the names of the authors, and 3) Ethical Approval Form, respectively.
Information about authors, institutions, or organizations should not be included in the submitted manuscript. Authors are expected to upload their articles completely in English language (with an extended Turkish summary) at the time of submission.
Authors should prepare their manuscripts according to APA7 format.
Maximum word count is around 8000 words (excluding the reference list & appendix & Turkish summary).
An abstract should be between 150 and 250 words. Statistical procedures, details and references should not be included in the abstract if not essential. Extended Turkish abstract (at the end) should not be less than 750 words and not more than 1000 words.
Detailed information about headings is given in the template. Headings should not be numbered and should follow a similar pattern as shown in the template.
Submission files should be sent in Ms Word 2010 and later, necessary symbols should be added using add symbol command not as pictures.
Tables
Table formatting is shown in the template. When referring to tables, use “Table 1/Table 2, etc.” instead of using expressions such as “the table below/above, etc.”.
Figure formatting is shown in the template. When referring to figures, use “Figure 1/Graph 2, etc.” instead of using expressions such as “the figure below/above, etc.”. Pictures should be at least at 300 dpi resolution.
Numbers between 0-10 should be in text format within text (except for findings). Numbers should also be avoided at the beginning of sentences and text form should be used (in text. Eleventh century… etc.). Numeric data should be given in decimals both in text and in tables, figures, etc. (e.g., 11.25, 24.00). Whole numbers should be given using double zero (e.g., 12.00) and divisions for all numbers should be given using full stop.
Acknowledgements should be added after acceptance and placed right before References. This part should not be included in the submission version before acceptance.
The authors are expected (and encouraged) to declare the Researchers' Contributions to the manuscript, if the manuscript has more than one author. Authors may also state if a support is received or would like to state an acknowledgment, or conflict of interest if any.
References
Referencing format for the manuscript should be in APA 7th edition. Detailed information is shown in referencing template.
An article must be prepared and submitted in full compliance with not only national and international laws of ethics but also must respect common standards of ethics accepted by academicians. Therefore, all parties carry the responsibility for respecting principles of ethical standards.
The manuscripts that apply to the journal should be original and not be in the revision process of another journal. Likewise, there should be no further application to another journal after the application is made. Otherwise, the application will be rejected when it is detected.Previously published abstracts and reports can be sent to the journal, but full-text published studies are not accepted.
Articles are sent to the reviewers after the Editoral review and plagiarism control through ITHENTICATE. Each study is subject to plagiarism detection (ITHENTICATE and Intihal.net) by the journal's technical team before going through the "Blind Review Evaluation Process". It should be noted that the maximum rate of each citation is 3%.
The similarity rate of the studies should be below 15% as a result of the plagiarism program evaluation. If the source representation is not correct, even a rate of 1.00% could result in the return of the study to the author.
International Journal of Curriculum and Instructional Studies (IJOCIS) (ISSN: 2146-3638; E-ISSN: 2619-9068) is an open-access peer-reviewed international journal published, FREE of CHARGE by Turkish Association of Curriculum and Instruction (TACI/EPÖDER). IJOCIS began its publication life by releasing its first issue on 01.06.2011 and accepts articles focusing on the field of curriculum and instruction.

Doç. Dr. Mustafa Cem Babadoğan, Ankara Üniversitesi Eğitim Bilimleri Fakültesi’nde görev yapan bir akademisyendir. Lisans eğitimini Ankara Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi’nde tamamladıktan sonra yüksek lisans ve doktora derecelerini aynı üniversitede Eğitim Programları ve Öğretim Anabilim Dalı’nda elde etmiştir. Araştırma alanları arasında eğitim programları, öğretim yöntemleri ve eğitim teknolojileri bulunmaktadır. Pek çok akademik makale ve kitap bölümü yazmış olan Doç. Dr. Babadoğan, aynı zamanda ulusal ve uluslararası konferanslarda sunumlar yapmış ve eğitim projelerinde yer almıştır.
Prof. Dr. Ali YILDIRIM Göteborg Üniversitesi (İsveç) Pedagoji ve Didaktik Çalışmalar Bölümü öğretim üyesidir. 1993 ve 2018 yılları arasında Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi´nde görev yapmıştır. Program geliştirme, öğretmen eğitimi, düşünme ve öğrenme süreçleri, sosyal bilimler eğitimi ve değerlendirme alanlarında araştırmalar yapmaktadır. Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı tarafından yürütülen ülke düzeyindeki araştırma projelerinde (aile eğitimi, SBS, mesleki eğitim, vb.) ve Dünya Bankası kredisiyle finanse edilen Milli Eğitimi Geliştirme, Endüstriyel Okullar, Hizmet Öncesi Öğretmen Eğitimi Projelerinde yöneticilik ve danışmanlık yapmıştır. Koordinatör ve araştırmacı olarak aktif vatandaşlık eğitimi, hayat boyu öğrenme, iklim dostu okullar, öğrenme ağları, okul dışı öğrenme kazanımlarının değerlendirilmesiyle ilgili AB Projelerini yürütmüştür. Ayrıca Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı ve Yükseköğretim Kurulu tarafından yürütülen akreditasyon, fakülte-okul işbirliği, öğretmen nitelikleri, öğretmen eğitimi, öğretmenlik sertifikası komisyonlarında görev almış ve çeşitli rapor ve programların hazırlanmasına katkıda bulunmuştur. Dawn Sanders is a professor of biology didactics in the Faculty of Education, Gothenburg University, Sweden. Her research projects include
‘Beyond plant blindness: seeing the importance of plants for a sustainable world’ (Dnr 2014-2013) was a three-year cross-disciplinary project funded by the Swedish Research Council. she is currently working on biodiversity awareness in education with an exploratory workshops grant from the Swedish Research Council working with colleagues from her own university, Karlstad University, Sweden and University of Vienna. Dawn trained in both fine art and ecology and her doctoral study considered botanic gardens as environments for learning (Sussex University, UK, Geography dept. 2004). She currently serves on the editorial board of the journal Plants, People, Planet as a Thomas Reviews editor.
Banu Yücel-Toy is a professor in the Department of Educational Sciences within the Faculty of Education at Yıldız Technical University in Istanbul, Turkey. She obtained her BSc in Statistics from Middle East Technical University in 1998, followed by an MA in Educational Measurement and Statistics from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2001, and a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction from Middle East Technical University in 2008. From 2024 to 2025, she was a visiting scholar at the University of Alberta in Canada. Her expertise includes curriculum development and evaluation, instructional design, teacher education and training, measurement and assessment in education, and research methodology. She has been actively engaged in both national and international research initiatives, including projects funded by the Ministry of National Education and TÜBİTAK, as well as programs under Erasmus+ and COST Actions.
Dr. Anıl Kandemir, Ağrı İbrahim Çeçen Üniversitesi Eğitim Bilimleri Bölümünde Dr. Öğr. Üyesi olarak çalışmaktadır. Doktorasını ODTÜ, Eğitim Bilimleri Bölümü, Eğitim Programları ve Öğretim Programından 2023 yılında almıştır. Yüksek lisans eğitimini 2016 yılında Pamukkale Üniversitesi, Eğitim Bilimleri Enstitüsü, Eğitim Bilimleri Anabilim Dalı, Eğitim Programları ve Öğretim alanında tamamlamıştır. Lisans derecesini ise 2012 yılında Akdeniz Üniversitesi, Eğitim Fakültesi, Yabancı Diller Eğitimi Bölümü, İngilizce Öğretmenliği programından almıştır. Araştırma konuları arasında öğretmen eğitimi, eğitim sosyolojisi, eğitim politikası, mülteci/göçmen eğitimi, öğretmen kimliği, kurumsal habitus ve program değerlendirme yer almaktadır.
Gulcin Tan-Sisman is Assistant Professor of Curriculum and Instruction in the Department of Educational Sciences, Hacettepe University, Ankara, Turkey. She got her Ph.D. degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara, Turkey. Her research focuses on curriculum development and evaluation, teacher education children's learning of mathematics in elementary school, etc.
Lisans eğitimini Hacettepe Üniversitesi Eğitim Programları ve Öğretim Ana Bilim Dalı’nda tamamlayan yazar, yüksek lisans derecesini devlet bursuyla gittiği İngiltere Newcastle Üniversitesi Eğitim Bölümü’nden; doktora derecesini ise Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi Eğitim Programları ve Öğretim Anabilim Dalı’ndan almıştır. TÜBA bursuyla Indiana Üniversitesi'nde; Fulbright bursuyla Boston Üniversitesi'nde; DAAD bursuyla Hamburg Üniversitesi'nde akademik araştırmalar yapmıştır. 2005 yılında Dr. Öğr. Üyesi olarak Atatürk Üniversitesi'nde görev yaptıktan sonra 2012 yılında Aydın Adnan Menderes Üniversitesi'ne geçmiştir. 2017 yılından bu yana profesör olarak görev yapmaktadır. Başlıca çalışma alanları; program geliştirme ve değerlendirme, değerler eğitimi, insan hakları ve demokrasi eğitimi, akademik yazma, nitel araştırma ve öğretmen yetiştirmedir.
Yasemin Karsantık is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Sciences, Division of Curriculum & Instruction at Trabzon University, Trabzon, Türkiye. She earned her B.A degree from Yıldız Technical University, Engligh Language Teaching Department. She held M.A. degree in Curriculum and Instuction from Marmara University and completed her Ph.D. at Hacettepe University in the field of Curriculum and Instruction. Her research interests include curriculum change, curriculum evaluation, comparative curriculum studies, thinking skills and teacher education.
Nesrin Ozturk earned her B.A., minor, and M.S. degrees from Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey. As a Fulbright Scholar, she completed her Ph.D. in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Maryland, College Park, USA. Her research interests include metacognition, instruction for thinking, teacher education, ethics and educational philosophy. She also serves on the editorial boards of several academic journals and conferences and contributes to professional development through workshops and in-service training programs. Driven by a commitment to fostering a democratic and just society, Dr. Ozturk is dedicated to empowering youth and nurturing intellectual freedom. She believes that self-questioning and reflective thought are essential to realizing human potential and cultivating peace—both within individuals and across communities.
