Liquid-liquid Equilibrium in a Binary System 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium Hexafluorophosphate + Water: Experiment and Data Correlation

Abstract

Experimental liquid-liquid equilibrium in the binary system 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate (abbr. [bmim][PF6]) + water was investigated and the results were compared with literature values. Quantitative comparison of the individual datasets was carried out by correlating the measurements and literature data by the modified Flory- Huggins equation and a molecular-thermodynamic lattice model proposed by Qin and Prausnitz. Gnostic regression was used to fit the models to these data.
