<p>This study was conducted to investigate the effects of a Peer-Assisted Learning (PAL) based program implementation on the Turkish language skills of international students learning Turkish as a foreign language and to examine participants&#039; perspectives regarding the implementation. Designed as a pre-test, post-test control group experimental study, the research involved international students learning Turkish at Necmettin Erbakan University Turkish Research and Application Center and Turkish students enrolled in the Linguistics Department undergraduate program who had completed the Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language course at the same university. During the implementation phase, which constituted the intervention component of the research, Linguistics Department students served as peer tutors, supporting international students in preparing and presenting a social responsibility project. Throughout this process, international students were assigned weekly tasks of delivering oral presentations by reading guidelines prepared by the researchers and submitting presentation files in written form. Peer tutors participated in the process as facilitating guides in various tasks such as helping international students access information, comprehend texts in the guidelines, and transform the data they obtained into oral and written texts. Quantitative data in the research were collected through an examination prepared by the Yunus Emre Institute to measure Turkish reading, listening, writing, and speaking skills, while qualitative data were gathered through focus group and in-depth interviews conducted with participants. Analysis of the quantitative data obtained in the research revealed differentiation in favor of the experimental group in terms of speaking skills. Analysis of the qualitative data demonstrated that the implemented program had positive contributions to international students&#039; acquisition of both contemporary individual skills and Turkish language skills. Based on the findings obtained in the research, it was concluded that PAL and similar practices that ensure active student participation could be beneficial in the field of teaching Turkish as a foreign language, and that there is a need for comprehensive and sustainable studies addressing student-centered programs.</p></trans-abstract>
