Investigation and Monitoring of Boron Concentrations in Elazığ Keban Dam Lake

Abstract

Keban
Dam Lake has a very large reservoir. The hydroelectric power plant located at
Keban Dam Lake contributes to the electricity production of Turkey as well as
fish production by the trout farms in the lake. Keban Dam Lake has many
settlements, recreational areas, entertainment places, etc. around it and also
industrial places such as mines, leather processing plant, sand-gravel
quarries. The agricultural areas and settlements around Keban Dam Lake are using
water from the lake. The aim of this study is the determination and seosonal
monitoring of boron concentrations in Keban Dam Lake. For this aim, surface
water samples taken from the various five points of Keban Dam Lake in Spring,
Summer, Autumn and Winter seasons and boron concentrations determined. It was
determined that the highest boron concentration in Winter season was
134 µg B L-1 in the surface water sample taken
from Ağın Ferry Pier (S-1) the highest boron concentration in Spring season was
182 µg B L-1 in the surface water sample taken from Çemişgezek Ferry
Pier (S-2), the highest boron concentration in Summer season was 163 µg B L-1
in the surface water sample taken from Güzelyalı location (S-4), the highest
boron concentration in Autumn season was 184 µg B L-1 in the surface
water sample taken from Çemizgezek Ferry Pier (S-2). The highest boron
concentration (182 µg B L-1) in sampling point-2 was determined in
Spring season, the highest boron concentration (111 µg B L-1) in
sampling point-4 was determined in Winter season while the highest boron
concentrations in sampling point-1 (176 µg B L-1), sampling point-3
(179 µg B L-1) and sampling point-5 (168 µg B L-1) were
determined in Autumn season. As a result, boron concentrations in sampling points
followed the order of Winter<Summer<Spring<Autumn according to the
seasons.

Elazığ Keban Baraj Gölü’nde Bor Konsantrasyonlarının Araştırılması ve İzlenmesi

Abstract

Keban
Baraj Gölü oldukça geniş bir havzaya sahiptir. Keban Baraj Gölü’nde bulunan
hidroelektrik santralle Türkiye’nin elektrik üretimine katkı sağladığı gibi,
gölde bulunan alabalık çiftlikleriyle balık üretimi de gerçekleştirilmektedir.
Keban Baraj Gölü çevresinde birçok yerleşim yeri, mesire yeri, eğlence yeri
gibi yerler bulunurken, maden ocakları, deri işleme tesisi, kum-çakıl ocakları
gibi endüstriyel faaliyet gösteren yerlerde bulunmaktadır. Keban Baraj Gölü
etrafında bulunan tarımsal alanlar ve yerleşim yerleri için gölün suyu
kullanılmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın
amacı, Keban Baraj Gölü’nde bor konsantrasyonlarının belirlenmesi ve mevsimsel
olarak izlenmesidir. Bu amaç için, Keban Baraj Gölü’nün 5 farklı noktasından ilkbahar,
yaz, sonbahar ve kış mevsimlerinde yüzeysel su numuneleri alındı ve bor
konsantrasyonları tespit edildi. 
Kış sezonunda en yüksek bor konsantrasyonu Ağın Feribot
İskelesi’nden (N-1) alınan yüzeysel su örneğinde 134 µg B L-1
olarak, ilkbahar sezonunda en yüksek bor konsantrasyonu Çemişgezek Feribot
İskelesi’nden (N-2) alınan yüzeysel su örneğinde 182 µg B L-1
olarak, yaz sezonunda en yüksek bor konsantrasyonu Güzelyalı mevkiinden (N-4)
alınan yüzeysel su örneğinde 163 µg B L-1 olarak, sonbahar sezonunda
en yüksek bor konsantrasyonları Çemişgezek Feribot İskelesi’nden (N-2) alınan
yüzeysel su örneğinde 184 µg B L-1 olarak belirlendi. Numune alma
noktası-1 (176 µg B L-1), numune alma noktası-3 (179 µg B L-1)
ve numune alma noktası-5’te (168 µg B L-1) en yüksek bor konsantrasyonları
sonbahar mevsiminde tespit edilirken, numune alma noktası-2’de (182 µg B L-1)
en yüksek bor konsantrasyonu ilkbahar mevsiminde, numune alma noktası-4’te ise
(111 µg B L-1) en yüksek bor konsantrasyonu kış mevsiminde tespit
edildi.
Sonuç olarak, numune alma noktalarında bor konsantrasyonları mevsimlere göre
küçükten büyüğe doğru kış<yaz<ilkbahar<sonbahar şeklinde sıralandı.
