Dünya’da hangi ülke olursa olsun tarihsel anlatım eril kimlik üzerinden ilerlemiş ve bu durum kadınların tarih içerisinde görünürlüklerine imkan vermemiştir. Türk çağdaşlaşma sürecinin anlatımı da klasik tarih anlatımının eril kimlik üzerinden inşasını devam ettirmiş ve çağdaşlaşma sürecinin en önemli aktörlerinden olan kadınlar, tarih anlatımında kendisine çok fazla yer bulamamıştır. Bu durumda kadınları, kayıtlı bir tarihten mahrum bırakmanın yanı sıra tarihsel süreç içerisinde etkisiz oldukları algısının gelişmesine sebep olmuştur. Oysa Türk çağdaşlaşma sürecinde kadınlar, Osmanlı’nın son dönemindeki Tanzimat’ın ilanıyla birlikte başlayan çağdaşlaşma sürecine etkin bir şekilde katkı sağlamış ve bu katkılarını sadece düşünsel boyutta bırakmamış, eylemsel olarak da harekete geçmişlerdir. Böylece kadınlar Türk çağdaşlaşmasının gerçekleşmesinde önemli bir misyon üstlenirken aynı zamanda Türk kadın hareketi tarihinin de oluşmasını sağlamışlardır. Bu çalışmada kadınların hem düşünsel hem de eylemsel boyuttaki girişimlerine odaklanarak çağdaşlaşma sürecinin aslında temel aktörleri olduklarını göstermek amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda çağdaşlaşma sürecinde yer alan bazı kadınlar incelenmiştir. Bu bağlamda çalışmanın, kadın çalışmaları alanına da katkı sunacak önemli bir çalışma olacağı düşünülmektedir.
Regardless of the country in the world, the historical narrative has progressed through masculine identity and this situation has not allowed women to be visible in history. The narration of the Turkish modernization process has also continued the construction of the classical historical narrative through masculine identity, and women, who are one of the most important actors of the modernization process, have not found much place for themselves in the narrative of history. In this case, in addition to depriving women of a recorded history, it has led to the development of the perception that they are ineffective in the historical process. However, in the Turkish modernization process, women effectively contributed to the modernization process that started with the proclamation of the Tanzimat in the last period of the Ottoman Empire, and they did not leave these contributions only in the intellectual dimension, but also took action in action. Thus, while women undertook an important mission in the realization of Turkish modernization, they also ensured the formation of the history of the Turkish women's movement. In this study, it is aimed to show that women are actually the main actors of the modernization process by focusing on both intellectual and operational initiatives. For this purpose, some women involved in the modernization process were examined. In this context, it is thought that the study will be an important study that will contribute to the field of women's studies.
