Ethical Principles Statement


Istanbul Medipol University Faculty of Law Review is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics. IMUFLR Editorial Board (“the Board”) declares that it will act in accordance with the ethical principles and academic procedures required by these standards before and after publication. All manuscripts not in accordance with the accepted ethical standards will be removed from the publication. In this respect, the Board will take reasonable steps to determine and prevent the publication of works in cases where research misconduct, including plagiarism, quote manipulation, and data fraud/fabrication, occurs. The Journal or its editors will under no circumstances encourage or knowingly allow such misconduct to occur.

Principles regarding the Editorial Board;

• The Board is responsible for any publishing content that will be published in accordance with the original text. Accordingly, if require procedures including publishing a correction or error page should be followed.

• The Board should not share information about an academic study submitted with anyone other than those who are ordinary to know about them.

• The Board should ensure that an academic study sent is not subject to any conflict of interest (any personal or professional, material or moral relationship that may affect the evaluation process of the study). If necessary, procedures such as the Board personnel, who is a party to the conflict of interest, withdraws from the evaluation, and the related work is evaluated by another Board personnel.

• The Board must scrutinize allegations of violation of any ethical principles regarding the publishing process, regardless of whether they are brought up before or after publication, and finalize them as required by high publishing standards.

• Challenges and complaints made to the Editorial Board are evaluated by the academic members of the Publication Board who are working in the relevant discipline.

• The Editorial Board should publish a correction statement in cases where discussions and corrections that will arise after publication are necessary.


Principles regarding the reviewers;

• A reviewer who feels unqualified to review the topic of a manuscript or knows that its prompt review will be impossible should notify the editor and excuse himself from the review process.

• Editor informs the reviewers that the manuscripts are confidential information and that this is a privileged interaction. In this context, the reviewers should not share the information about the manuscript submitted for their evaluation with anyone other than those determined by the Board.

• Reviewers should present their opinions in an impartial and objective manner. Reviewers should clearly state their views with supporting evidence.

• Reviewers should not benefit from manuscripts submitted for their evaluation prior to publication for their personal studies. After publication, they should benefit by abiding by academic procedures. If there is a possibility of conflict of interest, accepted procedures, including withdrawing from review, should be followed and the Board should be notified as soon as possible.

• If the reviewers suspect any violation of ethical principles or violation of academic procedures in the manuscript submitted to their evaluation, they must inform the Board as soon as possible.


Principles regarding the author;


• The author is responsible for the compliance of the submitted manuscript with ethical principles and academic procedures. Submitting the same manuscript simultaneously to more than one journal creates unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable. In general, an author should not submit for evaluation a work that has been published elsewhere or submitted for publication in another journal.

• Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the idea, design, application or interpretation of the submitted manuscript. In manuscripts written by more than one author, the name of each author should be written clearly. The individuals who do not meet the authorship criteria but contributed to the study in different aspects must take place in the acknowledgment section. The author who presents the relevant manuscript for evaluation should carefully lookout for that the submitted manuscript is the final version approved by other authors.

• The author should indicate the sources used in the manuscript submitted for evaluation in accordance with the citation rules announced by IMUFLR. In this context, if the authors used the works and/or words of others in accordance with the nature of the original works, they should make sure that they cite them appropriately. If non-public private correspondence is used, permission must be obtained from the other side of the correspondence.

• In the event that the author notices an error in the manuscript which submitted for evaluation, regardless of whether it is before or after publication, he or she should notify the Board of this and if required apply the relevant procedures, including the publication of a correction or error notice. If the Editorial Board learns from a third party that a published work contains a material error, it may immediately withdraw or correct the article.

• The author should explain any potential conflict of interest that could affect the content of the manuscript or the evaluations made for it. If the manuscript submitted for evaluation is supported by an external financial source, this should be clearly stated.
