Bu çalışmada, bireylerin manevi yönelimlerini değerlendirmeye ilişkin Manevi Yönelim Ölçeği geliştirmek amaçlanmıştır. Ölçeğin geliştirilmesi çalışmasına 872 üniversite öğrencisi (492 kadın; 380 erkek) katılmıştır. Manevi Yönelim Ölçeği’nin yapı geçerliğini sınamak için açımlayıcı ve doğrulayıcı faktör analizi yapılmıştır. Ölçeğin toplam varyansın % 47.50’sini açıklayan bir faktörden oluştuğu ve bir boyut ile temsil edilen modelin uyum endekslerinin uygun olduğu saptanmıştır (χ2=239.718, sd=100, p= .000), χ2/ sd= 2.39, RMSEA=0.06, RMR= 0.05, GFI=0.93, AGFI=0.90, CFI=0.95, IFI=0.95, NFI=0.92). Böylece, 16 maddeden oluşan 7’li likert tipi bir ölçek ortaya çıkmıştır. Ölçeğin ölçüt-bağımlı geçerliliği ve güvenirlik çalışmalarına 277 üniversite öğrencisi (172 kadın; 105 erkek) katılmıştır. Benzer ölçekler geçerliği, korelasyon r=.57 p< .01 olarak bulunmuştur. Ölçeğin güvenirlik çalışması ise iki yolla hesaplanmıştır: Birincisi, Cronbach Alpha katsayısı (Alpha=.87); ikincisi, test-tekrar test güvenirlik katsayısı (r=.84). Bu sonuçlar, ölçeğin geçerli ve güvenilir bir ölçme aracı olduğunu göstermektedir.

The objective of the study is to develop a Spiritual Orientation Scale, which is to be utilized to evaluate spiritual orientation of individuals. 872 university students (492 females and 380 males) participated in the study to develop the scale. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were conducted to test the structural validity of the spiritual orientation scale. It was determined that the scale was consisted of one factor that explained 47.59 % of the total variance, and the fit indices of the model represented by one dimension were χ2=239.718, sd=100, p= .000, χ2/ sd= 2.39, RMSEA=0.06, RMR= 0.05, GFI=0.93, AGFI=0.90, CFI=0.95, IFI=0.95, NFI=0.92. Thus, a 7 point Likert-type scale with 16 items was created. 277 university students (172 females and 105 males) participated in content validity and reliability studies for the scale. Similar scales validity, correlation was found as r = .57 p< .01. Reliability of the scale was assessed using two methods: The first was Cronbach alpha coefficient (Alpha = .87); and the second was test-retest reliability coefficient (r = .84). These findings demonstrated that the scale was a valid and reliable measurement tool.
