BİR KARABASAN KENTİ OLARAK JOYCE’UN DUBLİN’İ VE YAZARIN NİYETİ: BİLİŞSEL ANLATIBİLİM ÇERÇEVESİNDE BİR İNCELEME

Abstract

İkinci kuşak James Joyce
eleştirmenleri, Joyce’un Dublinliler
kitabında yer alan öykülerin yüzey metinlerinde Dublinliler hakkında tek bir
suçlayıcı sözcüğün yer almamasına rağmen, yazarın
niyetine
uygun olarak Dublin’in kötücül bir kent olarak temsil edildiği
konusunda birleşirler. Bu makalenin amacı, Dublin’i kötücül bir kent olarak
temsil eden metinsel katmanı, yüzey metin katmanından ayırmak mümkün müdür?
sorusuna yazınsal iletişim çerçevesinde yanıt aramaktır. Bu sorunun yanıtı,
Yapısökümcülük akımının  ortaya koyduğu altmetin kavramı ile Bilişsel Anlatıbilim çalışmaları
çerçevesinde önerilen zihinsel modellerle birleştirilerek yanıt aranmıştır. Dublinliler’in çocukluk dönemi
öykülerinden Bir Karşılaşma (An
Encounter)
adlı öykü, örnekleme olarak seçilmiştir. Yazınsal iletişimin,
okuyucunun zihninde yer alan çerçevelerin, metinde yer alan yanal önermeler tarafından tetiklenmesi
sonucunda oluşan altmetin ve okuyucu
arasında gerçekleşen bir anlamlandırma süreci olarak gerçekleştiği sonucuna
varılmıştır.
