Abstract: 12th century Levantine historian William of Tyre’s Historia is one of the best important sources of history of the Crusades. Historia covering the events between the years 1095-1184 has gained great fame after being translated from Latin into old French around the year 1223. This old French translation called Estoire d’Eracles is not just a translation of Historia, it also provides a different version of the events in an epic style and some new information added by the translator. Afterwards several anonymous additions covering the period after the year 1184 were made to it in the 13th century. Due to the similarity of all surviving manuscripts it doesn’t seem possible to tell which one is the original but the Continuations of William’s Historia are the most important historical sources about the Latin East history for the 13th century. Keywords: William of Tyre, Estoire d’Eracles, Crusades, Ernoul.</p>
