INCOME DISTRIBUTION AND ECONOMIC GROWTH

Year 2007, Issue: 1, 83 - 94, 24.09.2013

Abstract

                         ABSTRACT

This article considers an analytical survey of the literature about the interactions between income distribution and economic growth with an emphasis to development issues. It also evaluates recent trends in income distribution. Our study does not suggests any systematic effect of growth on income distribution in any direction. On the other hand the distribution of income may affect economic growth through several mechanisms. Empirical work provides significant evidence for developing countries in that direction.
