Abstract
Myths open or hidden persist in many cultures. Various myths can be seen in both written and oral traditions of societies. Especially the influence of myths is evident in artworks. Among the myths, those about heroism are universal and are in the foreground. Different societies dont neglect to consider this myth in their daily lives, religious traditions and artworks. In this context, the effect of heroic myth on a literary work is mentioned in this study. Feridüddin Attâr's work named Mantık’ut Tayr was evaluated in the context of heroic myth in the study. Especially Joseph Campbell's theme of the hero’s journey is handled by comparing it with this work. Although Campbell and Attâr lived in different periods and cultures, they followed a similar path. Campbell has revealed the commonality of heroic myths in her work. He stated that different societies took over the same myths in the past and today. This argument is confirmed Mantık’ut Tayr which is an Islamic classic. In this study, it has been tried to show that our claim has a fair share. While doing this, has been utilized the relationship between the History of Religions, Mythology and Literature. In a comparative method, it was discussed how the myth of heroism was handled in the context of the work in question.
