Karasu Grabeni (Hatay, Türkiye) Bazalt Morfolojisinde Volkanik Jeomorfosit Değerlendirmesi

Abstract

Karasu Grabeni (Hatay), sol yanal atımlı, genç kırık tektoniğinin oluşturduğu, kabaca KD-GB doğrultulu bir depresyondur. Bu tektonik hareketler, bölgede Kuvaterner bazalt volkanizmasını da tetiklemiştir. Böylece, Karasu Grabeni tabanında, jeomorfosit niteliği taşıyan bazalt jeomorfolojisi zengin çeşitliliği gelişme fırsatı bulmuştur. Bu çalışmada; jeomiras, jeosit, jeomorfosit jeoçeşitlilik kavramları ele alınmış, daha sonra bu kavramlar temel alınarak, Karasu Grabeni bazalt jeomorfolojisinin jeomorfosit olabilirliği irdelenmiştir. Bulgular; bilimsel niteliği, eğitim perspektifindeki potansiyeli ve jeoturizm anlamındaki yeterlilikleri sebebiyle, Karasu Grabeni bazalt yeryüzü şekillerinin “Jeomorfosit” potansiyeline sahip olduğuna işaret etmektedir. Çalışma sahasındaki bazalt Jeomorfolojik miras; fark edilmesi, korunması ve gelecek nesillere aktarılması gereken doğal bir kıymet olarak değerlendirilmiştir.

Volcanic Geomorphosites Assessment Within The Basalt Morphology Of The Karasu Graben (Hatay, Turkey)

Abstract

Karasu Graben (Hatay) is a roughly NE-SW oriented tectonic depression formed by recent left-lateral strike-slip fault tectonics that has triggered quaternary basalt volcanism in the region. Thus, the basalt geomorphology is likely to show characteristics of a geomorphosite, with rich diversity, to have developed within the Karasu Graben. This study discusses the concepts of geoheritage, geosite, geomorphosite and geodiversity. The possibility that the basalt geomorphology in the Karasu Graben represents a geomorphosite has been evaluated based on the above concepts. Research shows that the basalt landforms in the Karasu Graben have geomorphosite potential because of the scientific nature, the potential in educational perspective, and the ability of geotourism. Also, it is accepted that the basaltic geomorphological heritage in study area is a natural asset that must be recognized, preserved and passed on to future generations.
