Development of a Software for Designing In-Hole Broaching Tools

Abstract

In this study, the design parameters of the broaching tools in the round holes were taken into consideration, the design experiences of the manufacturers were brought together and the design stages were followed as a process and converted into an algorithm. Considering the necessary conditions for the correct design, it is aimed to rationalize this stage, which is based on experience, with mathematical formulas. The software is developed on the processing of involute forms, which is the widely used model in the in-hole broaching tools. At the end of the study, a case study has been done and the developed software is verified. A broaching tool is designed and produced using the parameters revealed by the software and the consistency levels of these parameters in terms of both dimensional and surface quality were examined by broaching trials. Results showed that software works properly.
