Theory of creative destruction that hasn’t lost importance from past to present, and proposed by Schumpeter who has lots of studies in this subject is revealed as a hot topic by technological development which is center of economic policies nowadays. The aim of this study is to pursue the traces of Schumpeterian creative destruction theory in economic thought. There are some traces of Schumpeterian creative destruction at different economists’ studies from of Classic, Neoclassic, and Marxist doctrines. Schumpeter defines the main factors causing the emergence of technological development as psychological motivations like achievement motivation and curiosity beside entrepreneurship’s profit motivation. It is detected that all of the economists analyzed in this study, like Schumpeter, directly or indirectly refer to technological development in order to growth. The factors causing technological development are: capitalist profit motivation for Smith, Ricardo, and Nelson and Arrow; rising in competitive capacity beside profit motivation for Marshall; spread of information in noneconomic sectors for Solow; motivation of having a social residual for Marx.

Günümüzde ekonomi politikalarının merkezine oturan teknolojik gelişme, bu alanda en kapsamlı çalışmalara sahip olan Schumpeter’in ele aldığı yaratıcı yıkım teorisinin geçmişten günümüze önemini kaybetmeden, yükselen bir konu olarak karşımıza çıkmasını sağlamaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, Schumpeteryan yaratıcı yıkım teorisinin iktisadi doktrindeki izlerini tespit etmektir. Klasik, Neoklasik ve Marksist öğretiden farklı iktisatçıların çalışmalarında Schumpeteryan yaratıcı yıkımın izlerine rastlanmıştır. Schumpeter, teknolojik gelişmenin ortaya çıkmasının altında yatan temel etkenleri girişimcinin kar güdüsünün yanı sıra kazanma güdüsü, merak gibi psikolojik motivasyonları olarak tanımlamaktadır. Çalışma kapsamında ele alınan iktisatçıların tamamının, Schumpeter’e benzer şekilde iktisadi büyüme için doğrudan veya dolaylı olarak teknolojik gelişmeyi işaret ettikleri tespit edilmiştir. Teknolojik gelişmenin ortaya çıkmasındaki etken ise; Smith, Ricardo ve Nelson ve Arrow’a göre kapitalistin kar güdüsü, Marshall’a göre kar güdüsünün yanı sıra rekabet gücünde artış, Solow’a göre ekonomi dışı sektörlerdeki bilginin yayılması, Marx’a göre ise toplumsal artığa sahip olma güdüsüdür
