In this review, histomorphologic
diagnostic difficulties were evaluated in cases that colon perforation was
detected and partial/total colectomy was performed. Although it is not difficult
to report histomorphologic findings of colon perforation within the clinical
knowledge in the practice of pathology, the absence of characteristic findings
in some cases may cause difficulties in diagnosis. Although clinical
information is often sufficient for histological diagnosis, differential
diagnosis difficulties are experienced in pathology practice, such as Crohn's,
amebic colitis, and intestinal Behçet's diseases.
